I'm not sure that such brutality should be given such a casual and flippant airing here, considering how young so many of the posters on this forum are.

However I think your opening posts should include links to the other threads where similar levels of Calzaghe's brutality is on display.

Joes got a higher KO % than George foreman and we can all see why LOL

So funny that one is considered one of the most murderous punchers in the heavyweight history and the other is considered a slapper by the boxing community.

It just shows you that stats and numbers mean very little.

UK bad refs influence on fights are far far worst than any kind of bad judging

    terrible stuff

Calzaghe did have power. He stopped hitting properly when he got all the hand problems. Granted that was basically the worst stoppage I've ever seen, but I watched him when he came through and he used to turn the knuckle into his shots and he hit hard.

You can make troll thread and laugh all you want, world champions who have fought him have commented that he hits hard and the difference in how he fights in his early career to how he did when he started getting noticed in the states is clear. He adapted to his problems and became a smart fighter who slapped and threw few power punches. But when he was a young fighter he hit hard and he threw with intent.

I think Calzaghe's handspeed and workrate overwelmed his opponents more than his power.

His power to me was around average, enough for his opponents to respect him. But no need to get carried away and say he had POWER, his stoppages mainly occurred from an accumilation of slaps, fairplay. But no way Calzaghe had concussive hellacious power he has never put anyone to bed other than his sons.

Riddle me this, Batman. Who's more qualified to pass judgement on Calzaghe's punching power?

    You or Chris Eubank?

    You or Richie Woodhall?

    You or Tony Booth?

    You or Dean Francis?

    You or Glen Caltley?

    You or Andy Flute?

    You or karl Barwise?

    You or Spencer Alton?

You do realize that the thread was as good as dead when I hammered that nail on its head, don't you? First hand testimonies are about as legit as is gets, and certainly infinitely more credible than the opinions of a bunch of self-confesed Calzaghe hating internet geeks.

ROFL! These are your examples of hard punches. This looks like average punching power at best. Darren little just has an amazing chin, eh? Look how fast that was stopped. Sure Darren Little had no chance, but he was eating those punches up like skittles. He didn't even get rocked really and when the ref stopped it he was about to attack back, not even on his heels. If Darren Little was in their with a up and coming fighter with real serious power he wouldve been KO'd unconscious within few seconds of the first.

The Eubank hit.. nope... this pretty much shows his average power. Eubank, past his best, throwing some wild uppercut and had his head in a completely different position gets hit by punches he didnt even SEE coming. Any guy with real punching power wouldve hurt him enough to at least make him wobble, or to the very least start to backpedal...

    The other one is private...

Newsflash every fighter is matched against supreme stiffs that they are put in to KTFO to look good on tv as they build their records. These stiffs they KO in their first 9 to 11 fights should get KO'd rather easy, they should be on their backs... anything less than that is terrible.

There is nothing wrong with having average power. Why do you guys even have a problem with him having average power? He had great speed and was quick on his feet. Is that not enough? Do you know how many fighters in history had bad hands? Most punchers hands are bad. ODH had bad hands, Mayweather (he was a puncher in his prime weight class), RJJ, among many others, none of their power diminished. Joe has average punching power.
