considering taylor's performance against nicklow, which obviously is no considerable measuring stick, what do you see for JT's middleweight future? the only thing I can say after the nicklow fight is that he hasnt lost any of his excitement, and i'd love to see him in against guys like andy lee and julio cesar chavez junior. maravilla? that might be a stretch
Jermain should take it slow, 3 more tune up fights. One more 154lb fighter, possibly Sergio Mora, if not Brian Vera. Then he needs to be careful, he may beat the Sturm of now, but it's questionable that he gets a fair shake in Germany. I actually think that Chavez Jr is all wrong for him, with the questionable stamina of JT and the preassure style of Jr.
There's nobody in the division he can't beat, that said I still want to see him stand up to some good shots, and go a full 12 without gassing. If he can do that (easier said than done) he could beat anyone in the division.
sergio mora is such a terrible style to watch, I wouldnt want to see him fight anyone, let alone taylor. also, chavez junior may be all wrong for taylor, and I agree with you, but you know jermain is a warrior and I think it would be up to chavez's handlers to take that fight or not because jermain would take it. that being said, who knows if chavez's pressure style is as effective as a froch, or a prime pavlik for that matter.
Get him a fight against a lower end top 10 guy and go from there. If he looks good, aim for one of the belt holders. If he wins a belt (against Sturm, Golovkin, Chavez Jr, etc.) fight Martinez for the middleweight championship. He needs to win all these fights. No slip-ups. Another loss, especially by KO, would be devastating for his career. I hope his comeback story ends in triumph. Taylor's a good guy and he's been through a lot.
Excellent point there. I can't think of ANYBODY that has ever looked good in a fight with Mora. Not Forrest or Mosely, not anybody. At this point, with public opinion still partially unsure on Jermain's comeback, last thing he needs is to look like **** (same as anybody else would, sayin') in any fight. He needs to go ahead and shine like his abilities will let him. :yep As far as Jr goes, while I haven't been over impressed with him, he does have the attributes to test Taylor: A Chin and big time Punch. the chin could get Jr into the later parts of the fight, and the punch we still need to see how JT takes it, both possibly testing JT"s "gas tank".
One thing to remember is THE MW Championship (if Taylor picked up a "lower" strap) would be In House for DiBella Entertainment.
Jt needs to take it slow. Work his way back up. Of course like many said nicklow was not exactly a measuring stick to know where he is not physically but mentally. 4 or 5 more fights would be great for jt to get his feet wet again. Personally i'd like to see him get cintron to come up to 160 and fight, ko cintron and we never have to deal with him. Cintron also has some pop in his punches which will let us know if taylor is ready to take some shots.
the thug midget hadnt won a second of any round and was 20 levels below taylor.... i dont think anyone gave a **** it was stopped....
Taylor might outbox him with the jab for a little bit, but I think he just has too much power as well. That's a match-up I don't like Taylor's chances too much in.
I'd like to see him showdown in a fight or 2 with Andy lee and Manny! Lee needs a dance partner. It would be great drama too.
