    Yeah, that is the myth.

    I don't buy it.

Hearn broke his #ยค% hand. Says it all.

Btw. I like both these guys and if Hagler had broken his hand and Hearns had won I would have said that same - that perhaps Hagler would have won if he didn't break his hand.

I am a huge, huge fan of both guys and I agree with this! MMH gets no respect beating Tommy sometimes

The most respectable third round KO loss in the history of the sport.

Both Marvin Hagler and Tommy Hearns were pure beasts.

I was in college when this fight happened, and I remember telling a couple of classmates that Hagler was gonna destroy Hearns, that Hearns' chin would not be able to take Hagler's punches. I won some cash on this fight too. More proof that punch resistance matters in boxing!

    The good ol' days, eh?

Hagler was in some mode that night, poor Tommy could've brought an aluminum bat and Hagler was still gonna get to that chin and cut them chicken legs down.

There are fights where neither fighter is a loser - whether he wins or not. Hagler v Hearns is reminder of what boxing used to be: Warriors fighting for supremacy, each one trying to destroy the other. Nobody walked into the ring after having spent the previous day on the phone with their accountant and PR manager.

Yeah, I was telling everybody who would listen that Hagler would annihilate him, shatter those questionable whiskers worse than Leonard did.

Seriously, the difference in this fight was chin strength. As it has been in a lot of fights!

And Hagler fans who deride SRL for not giving Marv a rematch, should know that Hagler never gave Tommy a rematch, though Hearns kept asking.
