Ricky Burns chased by thugs!

He did the right thing. Coatbridge, Airdrie and most other places in Lanarkshire are filled with bams who will stab you for literally nothing, they don't even want to rob you, they just want the status of being known as a mad *******. There was an incident last year just down the road from my work where a guy was stabbed leaving a pub after watching a Celtic game. The kid, Reamonn Gormley, was a Glasgow Uni student who had spent the last year over in Thailand working with children. I have a good few mutual friends with him and by all accounts he was an absolutely cracking person, he was confronted by a couple of scumbags outside the pub who stabbed him and left him to die in the street. It was originally thought to have been a football related attack but it turned out the guys who done it were also Celtic fans, they literally killed the boy for no reason whatsoever, just full of drink/drugs and decided to stick a knife in an innocent person. That's the kind of mentality a lot of people around here have. It's disgusting. Burns would have been an idiot to try to fight, it doesn't matter how good a boxer you are, if a gang of drunk headcases armed with blades come at you the only thing you can do is run.

 

I steer clear of horrible news like that wherever possible - ignorance is bliss

 

Good Rickys alright man .He done the right thing anyway .No point on fighting bums in the street .Whats with the police did they know he was a world champ ? It's not like Ricky to complain about things man .Hope they're doing there job right

 

With Burns's wide winging arm-punching style, any one of those lads would've beat him to the punch from range with a straightish angry hard haymaker - Burns would've have seen the shot coming because they'd throw it from their knee while walking/bouncing in.

 

1. Really is it worth it?
2. He would of most probs lost his license if he had smacked any one of them
3. Like many others have said you dont know what people carry these days its just not worth the hassle, 1 on 1 yeah fair but a group its not worth the hospital trip especially if they had knife or sharps

One of the things I love about boxing is it stops the majority of people who take part in it becoming little shits like the lads in question.

Ricky's actions reaffirmed that for me.

 

Burns done the right thing, no point in wasting his time and recieving a prison term for assualting some no hopers.
