...according to paulie malignaggi: "I think he's a more complete fighter than Manny Pacquiao," Malignaggi said. "Pacquiao is more offensive, but he can't fight going back. He's more of a killer offensively, and I think a lot of people fall in love with offensive killers. They see a guy who's an offensive killer and automatically assume he's a complete fighter. Of course, Pacquiao has generated a lot of positive press for our sport and that is something no one can complain about. But Ward can fight going forward, backward, inside, outside."

I think he brings up a good point, but might be jumping the gun. ward's obviously the better technical fighter but pacquiao has attributes that make him surpass ward as a fighter.

He's a more rounded fighter, that doesn't make him a better fighter though.

It always seem people are acting like he is some glorified hypejob with no skilss, a dumb 1/2 brawler.
Yet if thats true how did he beat the guys he beat troughout the years from flyweight till welterweight, people scream greatness when a lightwelter would be competetive at 168 yet his whole journey gets downplayed and discredit.
He didnt do all that while being so bad, just because he isnt as technical as floyd or whitaker doesnt make him less of a fighter.

He's right. Being more technially complete doesn't necessarily equate to being the better fighter though, and that should be pretty obvious. A guy like Bernard Hopkins was much more well-rounded then, say, Muhammad Ali. Doesn't mean he was ever nearly as good as Ali (exceptional as he was). Pacquiao's better than Ward. He has his flaws, but his strengths of phenomenal.

True statement but Pacquiao is better offensively than any of Wards styles

Not many would argue that point.

Not that it means much to the bottom line.

Id say Pac is a very complete offensive fighter moved up all these weights made some adjustments but essentially is the same fighter from the time i started watching him in 2003 at 126 til now at 147

Ward looks like he has the goods but time will tell, like others said he never faced a guy like Bute or Dirrel
