Kirkland is still the same limited fighter he was when he was knocked out in a round.

He has brute raw power, but that is all. His swings are too wide, and after the first few rounds his power decreases dramatically (it took him 6 rounds to get rid of Angulo who was ****ed after the first 2 minutes).

Cotto stops him. Early. It would be fun tho

Cotto has faced fighters with shock ability in their punches, explosive hitters like Randell Baily, Ricardo Torres, Shane Mosely etc and surfaced the winner. I agree Kirkland can put a hurting on just about anyone we have to factor in Cotto's skill set and the fact that his jab alone would frustrate Kirkland and keep him at bay. If Cotto can avoid getting into a shoot out I can see him breaking the much larger man down and dare I say it TKO him before the 11th.

To me the Ishida fight was just a fluke he took Angulo's best shots

I think that if Cotto runs around the ring like he did vs Margo and refuses to exchange he may win in boring fashion

but Cotto doesnt seem the same any more and seems to be bothered when being punched, if Kirkland hits the body I think Cotto may fold mentally in there

I'll tell you whats funny, is that after the Ishida surprise, everyone was writing off Kirkland, now all of a sudden he is a force to be reckoned with...some people make me laugh. This is boxing and **** happens, and people can get caught. Thats just a little dig at some on ESB.

Everyone can get caught and I never doubted Kirkland, he still has a way to go before he becomes the final article in my opionion but feel this would be a really interesting fight which could go either way but feel Cotto ring smart will prevail in this one...

Intresting perspective on your part, I saw the fight with an x-champ and some former fighters from Gleason's and they thought Cotto fought an excellent fight against Margo. He exhanged with percision and brutal accuracy. During the later stages of the bout he even went blow for blow stopping Margo in his tracks. In my honest opinion Cotto is the polar opposite of boring and his tatics at times are used so he can ultimately gain the "W"

lol he took Angulo's best shots. The guy was down hard and dead to rights before Angulo punched himself out with stupid innefective flurries.

Kirkland is a great litmus test to find out if someone knows **** about boxing or not. He's a crude B level brawler with no defense, dude makes John Duddy look like Pernel Whittaker. He gets hit by every punch that's thrown his way and he'll get Ishida'd again before too long.

i don't see it happening that way...

Kirkland is a 4 round fighter it seems, although his conditioning was much better in his last outing...

Cotto hasn't had the greatest stamina either but he certainly has more than Kirkland and he looked much better in his last outing as well...

Cotto has much better defense and technique, movement, counter punches, has the much better resume and pretty much better in ever category except for power, I think as long as Cotto last the brutal first few rounds onslaught, then he TKO's Kirkland in the mid to late rounds.

    Cotto TKO...

Uh Cotto is NOT Angulo !! Lets fall back now ..

  13. It wouldn't be as definitive as the OP is opining, but I like the fight.

Kirkland would not be the favorite but has a real chance to win if he's in top shape. I feel like Cotto would outbox him for most of the fight, but Kirkland's jab is the real deal and Cotto could be holding on (or running) for dear life toward the end.

I would pick Cotto to survive and win a UD.

Its an interesting matchup and I'd love to see it get made... but It's not likely (from the Cotto side. The Kirkland side would jump on this, guaranteed).

Agreed. Similar to Norris vs. Meldrick Taylor.
