Buncey your a good bloke but i'm going to be harsh with this post- not at you in particular.

But your right its no good, its no good for the FWP business model and the way they want to do things. The sports got to change and in many ways it has already. They need to catch up. Information means that we know people aren't unbeatable therefore the only thing that interests people is not the prestigious '0' but entertaining fights.

People want entertainment and good fights. There aren't going to be many 46-0 fighters in the future put it that way- and rightly so. Its a fabrication- its an indication that the best were side stepped. People want entertaining and exciting fights.

End of...... Hope FWP realises this before we lose a great company.

I'm trying to figure out what your idea of the solution is though? Sounds like you are suggesting we all just accept the clev vs karpency etc fights?

You are being quite abstract about what you think should be the solution.. or maybe I am "as sharp as a marshmallow".

I have my own idea about the topic but I'm genuinely curious about your idea of what we as fans should do.

Would I be right in saying that you think we should

    1. Fully support BN and pay our 60 quid immediately
    2. Support the likes of Clev vs Karpenzy etc

    I see your point bunce.

Actually doing my dissertation on the effect the internet has had on markets for goods (studying economics) and a large factor is the access to information. Consumers have greater and less costly access to information.

This is the case with boxing too. People can go on boxrec and check out a fighter in seconds and from that work out if they're any good, plus you have the likes of youtube which makes watching fighters easier and cheaper.

I disagree that people know less about the sport now though...

 Steve are you really saying that people should just be happy with Cleverly/Karpency?

I think we all know how boxing works. But that hardly makes it alright.

Call it negative, anti-boxing, whatever you want.. it's a **** fight therefore it's gonna be called a **** fight. You can dress it up however you want but Nathan Cleverly against Tommy Karpency is not a world title fight.. and it's fraud to claim it is.

Sure, it's boxing, the way it's always been and if it makes money for Frank and Nathan is happy with it then fine, let them do what they want but to actually criticise people for not liking crap match-making like this is very poor.

    Adios.

    Buncey.

im a big fan of yours, but i cant agree with that post mate.

ok, sometimes we do "know too much" because of the internet. But Fwank can polish a turd up any way he wants. but thanks to the internet, we now know this polished up turd is in fact, Yes, a TURD, and not some teak tough Gringo from the mean streets of Tijuana who in fact beat Julio Cesar Chavez while sporting a broken hand.

Fwank serves up turd sandwiches more often than not. and thanks to the internet, it gives us the where with all to avoid being scammed out of paying for these turd sandwiches.

id rather see Carl Froch fight the best and lose, then see cleverley fight some no mark powder puff puncher from the meat counter in the local Walmart.

and as you would say Buncey, Adios :good

Nathan isn't even a real champion. Paper title and an equally bogus defence. As Roe says: just because that's how it is doesn't mean it's ok.

Promoters are selling poor quality product and it is failing to grow the sport. How could anyone call that 'good promotion'?

If you profit now at the expense of later, you are doing business badly.

Hearn hasn't shown me anything special yet, but at least he's taking risks.

While there is an underlying truth to this, that is going too far. It is not fair to say that fans 'back in the day' were living in some sort of blissful ignorance like Rocky did until Mick told him he'd been fighting hand picked fighters not wrecking machines like Clubber. One thing that is also overlooked here is that the big events prior to the previous two decades didn't cost the paying customer what they do today. We were not getting the big fights hidden away on expensive ppv packages and subscription channels. If the fan is paying through the nose, he/she feels the need and has the right to ask more questions of what is being served to them for their money.

Also 20 years ago, fights were shown on terrestrial tv for free, so even if people knew then what we do now, we would have no reason to moan because it was free!, asking people to pay a subscription changes everything, Fwank is asking for 120 pound a year off of people therefore should bloody well listen to what we want.

EDIT I didn't see the above post.

Bunce I don't understand your point. Fans having more knowledge due to YouTube is exactly why its less easy to get away with **** fights. Frank can't pull the wool over our eyes with Kapecency. We know the good fighters he's fought (or not fought), we know exactly what he's done (or hasn't done), and we can watch him first hand for ourselves. It's a poor fight, bottom line, totally unacceptable and Frank deserves all the criticism he gets. The fight excites nobody, absolutely nobody, this is not the day and age where he can afford to make fights like this.

I like the fact that Steve takes time to post on here and don't want him driven away by negativity, but it is all justified.

We've had months now of Cleverly calling out Hopkins and mentioning Froch and other big name fighters and we get served this fight as part of a subscription package, FW needs to wake up, people weren't sold on it to start with, they are seething now.

I really hope he has a solid opponent for Burns because domestic boxing on boxnation is looking very bleak.

The Cleverly fight is simply a fight - not a massive event. A homecoming and part of a longer game - would you all prefer Cleverly fights Cloud in Florida in front of 1,200 and gets peanuts? That fight can be made but where is the sense? It would make a few dozen posters happy and then what? How long before somebody posts that Cloud is the easy option!?
