    Scene it..

He's basically teamed up once again with McGirt to train for the fight with Martinez.

 I don't get him at all, Goes through trainers like hot dinners.
 I love the drink some water baby line, it's like he's trying to show he's staying cool whilst thinking of things to say and do.

I suppose training over there it is hard for him to be with Gallagher.

If you don't get in early on a McGirt thread then you miss the chance.

    My bad.

Macklin left him after his fight with Yori boy campas in 08. I saw the fight on rte and recall Campas give Mack a tougher fight than expected. I think Mcgirt tied to give Macklin more of a boxers style and Macklin didnt react very well to the change. Interesting to see why hes gone back to him for the Martinez fight.....

It is a kick in the bollox for Gallagher, no doubt about that. He will miss out on a good payday. But, from Macklin's perspective, he has signed with an American promoter and he wants to base himself there so it is difficult to do that and stick with Joe.

Did anyone watch the recent 'Time of our lives' documentary on Sky with Collins, Calzaghe and Woodhall. It was interesting that Collins enthused the point several times that he benefitted enormously by moving around several different trainers. Collins point is that you can only learn so much from one trainer, and he benefitted by picking up bits of knowledge from all of his trainers. And he genuinely believed that he would beat better boxers than him because he has benefitted from all of the knowledge imparted to him from several trainers. I can understand the logic of that.

But, I think the Macklin scenario here is different and more down to geography, you gotta feel sorry for Gallagher, I think it is harsh that a trainer gets changed prior to a big world title fight.

Doesn't sound good and Buddy's known for trying to impose that on fighters. I think cos he's out there now he just wanted a U.S trainer.

He was actually on a good run as tainer in the early 2000's, he had a few successful fighters like taver, hes went fairly downhill results wise over the last few years though.

I don't think Buddy McGirt suits Macklins style.

I don't really rate McGirt anyway.
