Freddie Roach: "Any foot standing was unintentional". Freddie Roach knows more about boxing than you do, whether you like it or not. Does JMM have eyes in his ****ing chin? How else could he accurately target Pacquiao's feet with his own while trying to watch his opponent? Does this kill the argument? Sadly I doubt it.
It is pretty hard to aim for a guys foot when you have his hands to keep track on. It probably dont get easier because the owner of the hands is ranked as the pound for pound best boxer in the world. In Pac stomped more times it could be suitable to write the whole thing off. I doubt it effected the fight anyway.
And I'm saying it's not BS to assume that for the mere notion that JMM's footstomps looks exactly like that---a footstomp. Why don't you go shadowbox right now and tell me how many times your leadfoot is pointing to the heavens. To do what JMM did requires a certain calculated thought process hence anyone with an objective eye should find it suspect. Did it have a huge bearing on the fight? Probably not but it doesnt matter and is irrelevant to the point. What matters is that it is not at all irrational to think he did it intentionally.
I think Juan was intentionally trying to get his foot on the outside http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfBmqlO6rh4&feature=player_detailpage#t=524s
Yes Freddie prolly knows more about boxing than I do. But still, Freddie didn't have the luxury of youtube videos and hindsight at the time he said what he said. And me too, initially I brushed off all these footstomping accusations as awkward positioning battles between southpaw and orthodox. But come on man, when there's proof in the pudding it's ok to be suspicious. **** this has more weight than the ped accusations thrown at Pac.
So can you explain why JMM needed a "stomping" motion to get his foot on the outside? Does that seem natural to you? It sure as hell doesnt to me. Let's just leave it as this;I saw what I saw, and I'll base what I believe his intentions were on that....you chose to see (or chose not to see) which was just two guys fighting for outside position.
He didn't have youtube videos, but he was at ringside, closer than anyone here was. If it was that intentional and obvious, Freddie of all people would have noticed it. Also, If it was an intentional gameplan, why'd Juan only do it a whopping 6 times? Wouldn't he be doing it several times in every round? How many times did Pacquiao do it? How do you target someone's foot with your own when your eyes are on your opponents hands? I actually fail to see what advantage intentionally doing this would give you, as the person doing the 'stomping' would end up off-balance. It's as much a disadvantage as it is an advantage. Personally, I think it's a ridiculous argument, as is the PEDs accusation. It's funny. JMM has had a stellar career, with no one questioning his integrity, class and sportsmanship for decades. One single fight with Manny Pacquiao changed all that. You have to wonder why :think. The obvious answer is that it's just Pacquaio fans whining and making excuses for their boy, despite him being handed the win anyway. Winners don't need excuses? :conf
True. And Pac fans don't speak for Pac. Pac was the winner, the fans didn't win jack. But I agree with most you said. this really is a non issue.
Dude, this isn't an attack on JMM. I'd be the first to say he's an ATG, first ballot hof'er. This is merely to suggest that JMM has some crafty lil tricks up his sleeves, kinda like the way Floyd gets away with his elbows or Bernard's lil rabbit punches he sneaks in. Like I told chump on an earlier post, try and go shadowbox and count how many times your lead foot is pointing towards the heavens. The argument was whether it was an intentional move by JMM or not. I stand by my reasoning and I have yet to hear one sensible post as to how this could be a natural incidental movement.
