:good you are correct! Alvarado made proper adjustments, to turn the fight around. That is something Rios has not demonstrated in a fight. Rios just increases the pressure and his punch out put, but does not adjust in a fight. For that reason, and the fact that Alvarado might be the bigger guy, I'm favoring "Mile High". But it's going to be a tough, hard fight with back and forth action. :bbb
Really good fight and I've been hoping Rios moves to 140, I like this better than the mentioned Rios-Mitchell fight. Top Rank could put this fight with Bradley-JMM and then match the winners in the summer in hopes of building up for a huge match up with Pacquiao for late 2012.
Great great fight! I cannot wait! :happy not too sure who to favor here, but im gonna go with my heart and say Rios takes it in a brutal war!
Also seems to be a pretty big 140 LB'er, who took one of the hardest punchers at 140's best shots. I'm not counting Alvarado out of this one.. it's no joke of a matchup for Rios.
:good I was getting annoyed with the commentary I was watching at the time (it was Khan and someone else), because they had Prescott 8 or so rounds up going into the final one, and weren't recognizing any of the work Mike was doing. I had it 5-4 to Prescott, I think, and genuinely felt the tide had turned massively. In regards to the Rios fight, do you not think he [Rios] is far stronger and more relentless than Prescott, and maybe even as big (or bigger) than Mike himself? I know Rios normally walks in at mid 150s on fight night, so if Prescott can do some damage, I think Rios would at least do the same. And we know he won't be gassing out in the second half and be on the run. Would be an amazing war. I'm picking Rios by late stoppage (cuts) or decision. Hope Uncle Bob makes this! :bbb
I ****ing love that knockdown in the 10th. Those uppercuts were sweet! The way he lunged in that second one was badass.
Yeah, Rios could possibly come in stronger than Alvarado and Prescott at 140, he definity is more relentless than the Colombian. Rios can do the same if not more damage than Prescott if he was to land flush on Mike. The thing is, Prescott was fighting the best I had ever seen him do. In those early rounds he was moving nice and firing shots with good speed and timing, looking more skillfull then anything I've seen from Rios. Breidis Prescott is 5'11" with a 72" reach, while Rios stands at 5'8" with a 68" reach. I feel that Alvarado will have better success in the early rounds against Rios than against Prescott, but it's in the later rounds where Brandon is more dangerous and seems to find a second wind. If Alvarado can make his adjustments to throw Bam Bam off in those late rounds, he could pull it out via UD :hey. I do not dismiss Rios at all and do see him being able to get a late stoppage win, the kid has great one punch KO power.
Oh yes, that's something I forgot to factor in. It seemed like Mike was having trouble with his long arms to begin with. And yeah, Prescott was surprising me in the first 4-5 rounds. He's been working on his game really well. So how Rios deals with a 140-puncher and his power in the early rounds, is pretty important then. Especially if that 140-puncher himself has proven to get stronger as the fight goes on. I could see this being a re-hash of Castillo-Corrales, but being a battle of uppercuts instead.
Agreed. I like Alvarado, but he seems nothing more than a decent gatekeeper to me. Great heart though, and a good, clean inside fighter.
