Top 5 Most Dominant Heavyweights of Your Lifetime.

Here are the Top 5 Most Dominant Heavyweights of My Lifetime. This list was difficult to produce and I truly believe that these five probably could have taken down every other heavyweight in history. Agree or Disagree these five fighters have been utterly dominant and the best fighters since atleast 1987 which was the year I was born.

1. Lennox Lewis

I would have to say that Lennox Lewis is the greatest heavyweight of my generation, and also the greatest heavyweight of all time. He avenged his two defeats by stopping both of his opponents. Questioned for his “glass jaw”, but he was ko’d by two big punchers Hasim Rahman, and Oliver McCall. Big career victories include Golota, Holyfield, Tommy Morrison, Ray Mercer, Razor Rudduck, Tyrell Biggs, Frank Bruno, Tony Tucker, Shannon Briggs, Mike Tyson, Vitali Klitschko, Michael Grant, Frans Botha, David Tua. A who’s who of heavyweights of the 90’s, and 2000’s.

2. Wladimir Klitschko

Suffered a few setbacks at the beginning of his career which included being stopped by Ross Purrity, Corrie Sanders, and Lamon Brewster. However, he resurrected his career by regaining the heavyweight championship of the world when he stopped Chris Byrd. Currently on a fourteen fight domination streak, and sits atop the heavyweight division as the IBF, WBO, IBO, and WBA Super World Heavyweight champion. Could go down as the greatest heavyweight of all time if he continues the domination streak. Has been plagued by a weak heavyweight division, but his KO percentage at 83% puts him with the greats. Big victories include David Haye, Sam Peter(x2), Ruslan Chagaev, Rahman, Chris Byrd(x2), Ray Mercer, Frans Botha.

3. Evander Holyfield
The “Real Deal” Evander Holyfield is one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time. He is a four time Heavyweight Champion, and in many people’s opinions deserved to be 5x champion while coming on the short end of bouts with John Ruiz, and Nikolay Valuev. Was the first man to dominate Mike Tyson after his prison release when he was a huge underdog against the Dynamite Kid. Big victories include Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, Michael Moorer, Bert Cooper, Larry Holmes, Buster Douglas, James “Quick Tillis”, Pinklon Thomas, and many more. One of the best chins in boxing history being stopped only by Riddick Bowe, and James Toney when he already 41 years old with a long history.

4. Mike Tyson

I have absolutely no recollection of Mike Tyson is his early years, because I was less than 3 years old at the time of his stoppage against Buster Douglas. However I do recall watching many of his fights with my father on VHS and boy was this man the baddest man on the planet. When he got out of Jail he went on to dominate Frank Bruno, Bruce Seldon, and Buster Mathis to take his spot at the top of the division. While dream fights with a young Lennox Lewis or Riddick Bowe never went down his dominance in his two careers cannot be undervalued. “Iron” Mike truly could have been the best fighter in the history of the sport fast woman, and drugs led to his demise. With many to question what could have been with this man.

5. Vitali Klitschko

The man many consider to be the best of the Klitschko brothers has had a very dominant career. Who’s only two losses came from TKOs in which he was leading against Chris Byrd, and Lennox Lewis. His morale victory against Lennox Lewis(who I consider the greatest heavy of all time) was very impressive, however one cannot deny that his face was very damaged during the fight. Still the record books indicate TKO6 in favor of Lewis. Faced off against Corrie Sanders to avenge his brothers defeat to become the universally recognized heavyweight champion of the world. Retired shortly after due to injuries only to come back and dominate WBC champion Samuel Peter inroute to becoming heavyweight champion four years after his initial retirement. Has defended his title 7 times since regaining it, people wonder what could have been if it wasn’t for injuries and his political aspirations.

 

I agree, and head to head at the peak of their game I say Iron Mike is number 1, however I was too young to witness him destroying his opposition, and during his comeback he did not quite have what he previously had.
