If i remember correctly Tucker broke his hand in the earlier rounds so it's understandable his offence was limited.

Smith - one of the most boring elite heavyweight fights. Watched it only once.

Green despite his big talk clinched and clinched and clinched. Wathced it only once too.

I took that language to basically mean that you have to stand up to Tyson and not let him bully you.

That was the goal for Evander Holyfield’s entire career was to one day beat Mike Tyson. So when I was training him ’93, and he was telling me, “Everybody is afraid of Mike, but Emanuel, if you start fighting Mike and pushing him back, Mike will start folding”. That was always what he had in his mind, and when they made the fight I told Don that Evander has always been obsessed with beating Mike Tyson. So when he beat Mike I was not surprised.

Manny has a lot to offer the younger fight fans because I never got to see prime Mike Tyson or Ray Leonard(well not live anyway)

I'd like to hear his thoughts on Roy or Sweet Pea too

We asked him some questions about Roy after he was KO'd by Lebedev with regards to whether Emanuel thought he was tarnishing his legacy.

I'm not sure I ever actually asked him about Sweet Pea, but I'll be sure to keep him in mind for my next history piece with Emanuel.

Steward is an excellent trainer but he is no defensive specialist. His greatest fighters were taught offense and the mastering of holding and tieing up.

I would rather see the slips and counters of a fighter like Tyson. Thats what created those spectacular knockouts because its the only way to hit an opponent unguarded like Tyson was able to do in so many of his fights to create those spectacular endings.

    Good stuff, Rumsfeld.

Steward briefly trained Pryor - did he mentioned him in his interviews?

Interesting to know what he thinks about Aaron.

Steward is the first to admit this, and has done so in several interviews I've done with him.

Emanuel has continuously stressed the importance of BASICS and BALANCE.

That's what he teaches, and it's effective.

Well, Tyson was in a league all of his own when it came to generating excitement and explosive raw power. No argument from here.

Well do you two agree that bigger guys in survival mode gave Mike more difficulty than smaller guys in survival mode?

I agree with Emanuel in what he was saying, and one point he stressed a few times was that Tyson was troubled "by bigger skilled guys who were not intimidated by him".

I'm honestly finding it difficult to disagree with that general viewpoint.

Well it's hard to test that, since pretty much anyone he fought was bigger :)

On the other hand, I think it's worth pointing out that Tyson's shortness rarely gets mentioned here at the Classic section. I guess it's easy to overlook when he knocked out so many big guys.

Steward always says things about size......he overrates the importance of size a bit in my opinion.....

What I most disagree is when he says Ali was too big for Tyson......I don´t see the size being such a determinant factor in prime Ali vs prime Tyson......
