The Dynamite that for some reason wasn't called Dynamite wasn't the best ever, but it was actually OK.

It was weird and definitely something of a circus...but not in a terrible way really.

    Both K1 matches exceeded expectations.

Masaaki Noiri vs. Kengo Sonoda was fun and not as one-sided for Noiri as it looked on paper.

Nils was brave as hell (especially fighting on short notice) and Kubo showed why he's one of the best...maybe the Petro of lightweights, in that he's now entered the thick of his prime and accordingly might not be able to find a challenge anywhere.

The MMA side of the card had about everything you'd want. The undercard had some moments, Aoki was denied the finish (and those jackhammer knees to the face in the dramatic final twenty seconds, holy **** :scaredas:) and of course the cherry-on-top Fedor showcase went exactly as it was supposed to go.

I'll even say the puro-resu matches featuring top grapplers and kickboxers were....yes...pretty damn entertaining. That's hard to admit as a man approaching thirty, who gave up on "sports entertainment" at 18 upon the collapse of Heyman ECW and Turner WCW and the emergence of the monopoly (and even that seems a shameful bit of arrested development in hindsight) - but there you go. The **** was just fun - especially the Sakuraba tag match...and listening to real sports commentators stoically call the knowingly scripted action without violating kayfabe was a perversely surreal treat.

Strange that this happened a week ago and there was never a thread on it. :blood It was mentioned in the predictions thread, but there was otherwise nothing on it dating back to the 30th. Almost three pages of stuff on 141 and its aftermath (and looking ahead to 142, etc.) but nothing on this...and it was headlined by ****ing FEDOR.

What a ****ing sorry excuse for an MMA forum this truly is, seriously. ...and I don't even really like MMA much anymore. UFC.com should just have a "Forums" tab that links directly here.

    couldnt watch it live :(

I really like those crazy 6hour long events, everyone can find something they like in there.

there was a whole lot of big names in there & some genuine matches
    good stuff

WTF was that bit with Inoki and the terrorists?

For such a long event, it was kept flowing nicely enough that it didn't even need such a strange interlude to keep the audience riveted...but it was a welcome dash of absurdity anyway.

BTW, how gracefully has that dude aged??? Remember, he was a contemporary of Ali and Frazier! (one-time rival of the former, and older than the latter!)

It was fun. I was pretty tired by the end, though. Watching MMA from 4pm to 7am is just absurd.

Crucified Inoki made it all worth it.

That was pro wrestling, so it was supposed to have been all fake and choreographed..

I think Timmy took some stiffer shots than he was expecting, though. He had that familiar (and very real) look of ruined dismay toward the end when those body shots kept pouring in.

    Shakes head

What is that like a conspiracy theory type of thing that the fight was choreographed?

Dude, it was a pro wrestling match. Did it not seem weird to you that JLB had giant boxing gloves on, and Sylvia didn't?

At this point if you're really arguing that it was real (as opposed to just a stiff work) then I'd venture to say yes, you are an idiot! :yep
