I've long thought that BJ has one of the most irrational and delusional fanbases in MMA, which is probably second only Shogun's when it comes to making up excuses for their favorite fighter's shortcomings. However, this post proves that they're simply taking their cues from the master. Let's revisit some of the "fence holding" from the Penn/Diaz fight: This content is protected And what was BJ's strategy against Fitch? This content is protected The absurdity of a fighter who has always prided himself on being wiling and able to fight outside of his natural weight class now complaining about his opponent's size after being handed the worst beatdown of his career speaks for itself. Penn is a tough ******* with incredible natural talent, but the guy is and always has been a lazy, spoiled brat who tries to coast on his natural gifts and looks to blame other people when things don't go his way.
Might sound like a bit of a n-hugger here (which I'm not) but a pissed off penn is 1 of the most dangerous fighters in the world!
I am a die hard fan of BJ Penn. To the point that it actually upsets me when he loses, some fighters I like and cheer for (GSP, Sonnen, Nog etc) but when they lose it doesn't effect me at all. But I was genuinely upset when BJ lost to GSP, Edgar and Diaz and even didn't get the W against Fitch. But the Diaz fight made me really realize that this ****ing guy IS NOT an athlete! He is a fighter, he proved that in the first round of the Diaz fight and by withstanding the 2nd round and actually making the 3rd round competitive. But he is definitely not an athlete. He was gassed out in the 2nd round. THE SECOND ROUND!!! Dude! Dude wtf, he is a professional fighter, he is one of the most experienced fighters in the world and he is gassing out after 5 minutes of boxing? Also I'm not at all making excuses, but he is usually scary during his ring walks. He normally has a look of serious determination. But in his ring walk against Diaz, there is a point where he literally almost cries. If you haven't seen it, watch it. It was bizarre. I think he is mentally retired. I think he is the type of fighter that, and he has said this, that some days HATES that he has to train and HATES that he has to compete against other fighters still. Skill wise, he is insane. He took John Fitch's and Nick Diaz's back with absolute ease! He couldn't finish because they are bigger, stronger and were still fresh when he did, but it was insane how easily he did it. But then in both fights he ended up 1/2 dead, getting beat up, counting the seconds down until the fight ended. He probably has resentment for the Fitch decision because he was outclassing him until he clearly gassed out. He probably is very dissapointed that he lost to Diaz because he has trained with him and probably went into that fight thinking he was going to trash him. And also maybe some anger at the way Diaz acted afterwards. But he is absolutley wrong about Diaz fighting like a *****. Diaz stood right in front of him and threw punches at him and ate punched in return. BJ just has to lie to himself to build back his confidence. Thats all this is.
Bj is a great athlete some of the things he can do are unreal normal people can't do that ****! He just doesn't put the work in! If ANYONE trained the way a elite fighter trains they don't gas and certainly not after 1 rnd! He's just lazy in the gym!
He needs to go train with a team. He can't be the boss of his camp. He needs to go train with Jackson or Gracie or AKA where he will have somebody else in charge and also other elite fighters around him to train with and push him EVERY day.
Like seriously, when he took a "vacation" a few weeks before the GSP rematch to clear his head???? Then he told Dana White he would slap him for commenting on his training atsch:rofl
BJ Penn accomplished extrodinary things with not much but pure talent. He's maybe the biggest example of 'What could of been' in MMA history.
Bj was bossing Nick until he got tired. Not Nicks fault he comes better prepared. OTherwise BJ can beat him in the boxing.
This was posted on his Facebook page yesterday, and lots of people said his account was hacked. Everyone else slammed him for making excuses.
Jon Fitch made him gas too and so did GSP. BJ just doesn't train hard enough at 170. It really is that simple. He looked soft as soon as he moved up but people thought he was back because eh sparked Hughes. BJ must hate the hardcore training modern sport requires.
