Dream NYE: fess up, you were entertained. (if you watched)

Discussion in 'MMA Forum' started by IntentionalButt, Jan 5, 2012.

  1. Intermissions, ceremonies after the fights, fake fights, long introductions, ******ed entrances and Fedor fighting a chump again. Hell, half of it could have been cut out.

There were very few fights that were actually worth watching.

    Typical Japanese entertainment.

What was the whole story behind that incident with Inoki? I thought it was going to be a Tiger Jeet Singh reference as he was Inoki's old foe - but no explanation was offered or given.

Who were those guys with The Voice? They seemed to have little insight to offer in their commentary. Frank Trigg must have been booked that night.

The small guy with the bald head (forgot his name) has done DREAM shows before. He's actually not that bad. Certainly better than when they go Mo Lawal to commentate...

That's how wrestling used to be in the WWE. I cannot understand the MMA fans that **** on MMA's roots -especially JMMA- which is in Pro Wrestling. Sheeeit i might go and watch Angle Benoit again. :yep

I watched the first part of the NYE program before the intermission, but I was too sleepy to watch the rest, and apparently best matches.
HDNet is airing "Part 1" of the NYE show tonight at 9 PM Central time. I wonder what matches will be on there.

**** yeah! Kurt Angle circa 2001-2002 was a top 5 pro wrestler of all time for me. He was one of the few who could keep up with the best of them on the mic whilst at the same time put on absolutely amazing matches. He's up there with the Malenkos and Benoits as far as the actual wrestling goes and was almost as entertaining as The Rock on the mic. Angle FTW.

I agree. The Angle/Benoit feud was great as were the many Angle/Brock matches. When you watch guys like Hart, Benoit and Malenko you see bits and pieces of real catch as catch can wrestling. If you pay attention to them you can see their transitions and escapes that will work in real situations.

I hate to even type Benoit's name after the way he went out. It really soured me towards wrestling at the time to see one of it's heroes fall so far.

I LOVE CCW by the pound. I could watch that **** all day. To me it's even better than watching BJJ. To me that is wrestling and transition and it's finest. It's excellent to watch when you see two Pro Wrestlers that are just soooo fluid at it. Pro Wrestling is an art. Unfortunately there's only a few that actually know how to do it. Angle and Benoit were the last two.

I don't tend to watch "fights" with predetermined outcomes. I don't obsessively watch every event that's broadcast anywhere in the world - I have a backlog of plenty of classic fights that I haven't seen. And I prefer competitive main events to mismatches. I don't apologize for any of that. :bart

And what exactly do YOU do on here, except for offer opinions? Seriously, tell me. While you're at it, you can tell me why your opinion isn't irrelevant. :good

By the way, I didn't initially comment in this thread, because I had nothing to say about the card. I voted truthfully, was challenged, and responded. I'm not talking any smack on anyone who watched and enjoyed the card. If they enjoyed it then good for them. Have at it. But the matchups and the format didn't grab me. As I said earlier, a couple of tweaks here and there and yes, I would have watched it. A competitive Fedor main event and Barnett in a real fight, and I certainly would have watched. :nono

    :hat

  13. I was waiting for a Hello Kitty fight. Lame crap.

Boring rhetoric, short attention span, no appreciation for real skill.

    Typical Zuffa zombie.

Short attention span? there were some fights I would have watched but that show was way too long, could you imagine if a UFC event was that long you would have been bashing. Did you watch the whole event from begining to end?
