Then he will be the second longest reigning HW champion of all time behind only Joe Louis. After he retires where will he stand in history??

I think he's 4th right now with 17. Ali had 21, Holmes 22 and Louis 25.
So it's very possble....

 

I dont know, but I honestly expect him to dominate for 10 years straight since 06.
He can pull it off and retire after that, it would be great.

 

Wlad can keep fighting into his 40s. The guy is so good and is the master of not gettig hit. Pure boxer and smart dude.

to be fair Louis had a "Bum of the Month" club going on as well, which would rack up some easy title defenses. Wlad has had almost 60 fights which is a ton for this era..

 

I'm counting also his 7 defenses of the WBO title.
It's counted on Lennox Lewis' record, so why not Wladimirs??

 

It doesn't matter anyway how long he dominates. He can dominate 20 more years and it won't make any difference unless he fights some great fighters which the division is scarce of atm.

 

I was following the day-to-day coverage of Wlad/Haye and the one thing that really stuck out was something one of Wladimir's sparring partners said when asked what it was like to be in the ring with him. He basically went on to say that because Wladimir is such a master of distance and range, the opponent basically finds himself fighting against his arms and nothing more. Think about that for a second. It's like trying to storm some kind of stronghold while not even being able to get through the barbed wire that surrounds it, let alone anywhere near the artillery. Emmanuel Steward said right it right there moments after the Byrd fight ended that he didn't see anybody on the horizon that can challenge Wladimir and this was nearly 6 years ago.

 

Yeah, let's not forget all those great fighters that Tyson beat during his title reign. Is he any less of an ATG? All a guy can do is fight the opponents that are around during that particular era.

 

I agree, Wlad is such a disciplined athlete, it's easy to see him fighting at 40+. But let's not get carried away and start labeling him a defensive master. He does a lot of holding and clinching to where he literaly lays on fighter, pushing there heads down at times. It's not as if he was using great head movements slipping and dodging combos. Don't get me wrong for a big guy he's got nice foot work that does get him out trouble, but a defensive wizard he's not.

With all that said, I don't see no one one that can beat him right now. :good

 

Wlad will continue to dominate, if all the top guys continue making excuses like " I'm not ready to take on a Klitschko" then he'll just keep facing the best fighters who are willing to come in, try to survive and leave with a paycheck, and I don't see this changing in the near future, so yes, Wlad can easily correct Louis's record in title defences
