Hearns. My favourite fighter ever probably, he always put on a show and went out on his shield when he did lose, a true warrior.
I voted for him too, pretty much for the same reasons. He wasn't afraid to face anybody, which really means something when you "pick on" guys like Cuevas, Leonard, Benitez, Duran, Hagler, Barkley, Hill, and and a host of others. He wasn't afraid to put it all on the line and fail. He represents all of us in a way. We all want to show that we are courageous enough to challenge where we know we might fail.
Leonard...I especially like how he redeemed himself with Duran in the No Mas fight...that was a beautiful turnaround from the first fight. I think he would have beaten Duran had he used his head and boxed like that in Montreal.
 Nah, probably right. But it was a fight Leonard should've won to begin with without a rematch needed. Hence why it's such a monumental victory in boxing history. It was much better that he was inclined to trade with Duran because it spawned an all-time classic fight. And he gave a good account of himself too.

Leonard. I was born a few months before Leonard vs. Hearns and by the time he fought Hagler in the super fight I was still very young but I mimicked the opinion of others around me by rooting for who everyone else was rooting for; Leonard was famous enough that I had heard of him despite being a child who didn't really follow boxing. Although at the time I was aware of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. I suppose because I had never heard of Hearns or Hagler or Duran until I was much older my support was more with Leonard and it stuck.
Leonard, because he was medialized more. But as I watched more of Tommy Hearns, I grew to respect him as a person,, because Ray could be a dick.
Hearns. He's a solid, honest, down-home guy who wasn't afraid of anyone. He had a working man's pride. Leonard had a celebrity's arrogance. The fact that Leonard avoided him for a long time, thus denying him a monster pay day, makes him look even better. I loved Leonard as a fighter, but outside the ring, he's a mixed bag more than most of us. That phony celebrity smile irked me. And the machinations underneath it were even worse.
