ESPN2 FNF: Dyah Davis vs. Alfonso Lopez RBR

I pray the Atlas curse doesn't extend to football because I'm rooting for LSU.

Lopez backs up to the ropes and then ducks, trying to grab Davis low but getting hooked atop his buzz-cut. Davis pops a right to the body. Left hook to the body. Right hand up top. All Davis here. Clinch, wrestle. Break. Lopez jabs, blocked. Lopez overhand is ducked. Clinch. Lopez flops around in Davis' grasp, maybe trying to make Davis waste energy trying to contain him but a stupid sacrifice if so as he's wasting plenty of his own. Davis shimmies on the outside and twitches his left shoulder as though about to jab, but instead ducks forward and opens the door to another clinch. Lopez slams his chest into Davis' jumping forward, not even bothering to throw a punch. Chopping sloppy right by Lopez, misses badly. Davis keeps softly tapping the body.

10-9 Davis

89-82 Davis

 

6-3 Davis.

Davis landed more in the ninth while Lopez did his ineffective stalking, smoothering his punches, and holding. Rinse and repeat.

 

Dyah Davis and Francisco Sierra stunk out the joint 11 months ago. I'm starting to believe Davis is a stinker.

 

90-81 Davis.

Round 10

Davis lands a pair of high shots as Lopez charges in and sends beads of sweat flying of his head but Lopez is able to bash through with a hook of his own. Overhand by Lopez. Jab to the nose by Lopez. Slapping counter by Davis backing up. Clinch. Davis goes for a left hook to the body but Lopez runs through it and takes the back of his arm against his stomach. Long rough clinch, both twisting and grunting with their arms netted. Davis waves a jab in the air, distracting Lopez from the hard right that comes thumping down on his brow. Lopez chops at Davis behind his jab. Davis tries a counter hook but is too slow; Lopez is atop him, smothering. Lopez comes forward, jabbing. Davis ducks and grabs. Lopez tickles Davis about the chest and throat with his left glove as they're pinned together. Good flush right hand by Lopez from outside, falling in. Davis lands a left.

10-9 Lopez

98-92 Davis

Hopefully Lopez isn't anywhere near a TV screen for a long time.
