Bull****. Nothing in that first round that Nick did was exceptional and instrumental in making BJ gas. Taking nothing away from Nick, he did awesome and exactly what was expected of him. But BJ was NOT in shape for a professional fight. His arrogance made him think he diddn't have to be and he would make easy work of Diaz probably.
If BJ is complaining about size differences, then he should drop to 155 and see if he does any better against Nate Diaz. I think BJ would still get his arsed spanked, because as another poster in this thread eluded too, BJ is mentally retired.
Penn can talk all the **** he wants. A rematch with Diaz would look the same as the first fight but with Diaz possibly stopping him.
BJ's just so use to excuses and his "yes men" around him that he really doesn't believe he's ever lost a fight. He should take his fire and bring it to a different training camp and then go back to 155. If Edgar loses to Benson I'll bet BJ get's real interested in fighting again.
Have always been a fan of BJ. But he's one different kind of cat. Example, remember when he stopped Uno in about 10 seconds and then did a runner without being interviewed? Perhaps he was worried he was going to wet his pants with excitement >>> [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEBkaIS2DHY[/ame]
I love BJ Penn. I think he's talking utter **** here, he got beaten by a bigger, fitter, hungrier, fresher fighter, fair and square, Nick Diaz didn't lay n pray him or anything even like that, he beat him in a stand-up war because he was bigger, better conditioned, and he wanted it more. If this is BJ saying he's ready to come back, AND COME BACK IN GREAT SHAPE, then I completely forgive this BS and say Get in the gym son!!
PS: Before BJ tired, he was showing he was a cut above Nick in terms of skills, that much was obvious. However, if he comes back again in the same shape, Nick will beat his ass all over again. BJ please don't come back unless you're willing to have GSP-like dedication to preparation.
