Not quite...Canelo is a young, hungry, tough fighter that can bang, so at 154 he physically presents a challenge, but remember, Ortiz came into a 147 fight weighing in at 160+. The problem is that Mayweather, unless grossly overmatched, will not be physically beaten in the ring. Canelo, with all is physical advantages, will lose to Mayweather due to his shortcomings on defense, boxing iq, and experience.

The OP didn't say Canelo was a good opponent for PBF...just more legit than Ortiz.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Gomez had more than just "some" success against Ortiz or even sprung the "upset".

Yep. Multi-millionaire's hundreds of times over have to be driven by greed to continue desperately seeking the highest paydays.

Martinez is scheduled to fight Macklin already so he is out of the picture. Let Canelo fight PBF. So what if he loses, he will get experience and he is so young. This will just be a stay busy fight for PBF until he goes to jail and serves his deserved sentence.

IB, it could happen someday. Ortiz will out grow 147 and Canelo fighting him in the future and using him to add to his resume and experience.

Canelo is a good fighter, but fighting bum after bum after bum then mayweather equals him getting outclassed. gomez had a game plan and it was working until they took it away from him. ortiz has some experience i would do better in a rematch with floyd, but id rather see mayweather outclass alvarez.
