I mean we know sometime in the future he will fight at 147. In the future there will be a lot of big money fights available at 154, providing he does well at 147, would team khan be tempted? he is tall enough to make 154 i think. Discuss :bbb
Khan has already said he wanted to win a title at 154. 1. Win all the belts at 140 2. Move up to 147 and beat Floyd 3. Win a title at 154 4. Retire by 28.
Physically he can do it, however, i happen to think that Khan will not be as good at a higher weight than some seem to think. I don't see him as very strong at 140lb let alone 154lb. Hell martinez can still make 154 and it would be interesting to see how amir handles a strong 154lb fighter.
Can you imagine if Khan ever fought someone like Kirkland.... i think the definition of massacre would be re-written
He will loose what power he has on his way up the weights, Khan is a decent sized 140lber until recently I thought he was some monster at the weight, but I was wrong he isnt, I feel at 147 hes gonna be seriously outweighed by the likes of Ortiz and the other big welters, at 154 hes gonna be too small IMO.
He can win titles from 140-154 but also get ko'd easily. Idont think he will end up with a greater legacy than cotto for example.
One right hand from Canelo and its lights out Khan gets has been rocked badly throughout his career at 135lbs and at 140lbs, what do you think a solid powerful 154lber is gonna do to him!
canelo is not a massive massive puncher, i mean he can bang a bit but i don't see him KO'ing khan before the 8th round, the flurries in that fight would be amazing. Khan may improve his footwork and keep it at range but that remains to be seen.
He definitely has the build for it whether or not he can take a punch from a 154lber is a different story and it doesn't help that alot of the guys at 154 under golden boy are aggressive young fighters (Kirkland, Angulo, Alvarez) which seems to be Khan's kryptonite .
