He has moved back to Scotland. To be honest, his head wasn't right down here. He called it off with Ben Doughty for reasons which I won't go into, and seemed all over the place mentally.

Bluntly, he starting putting stupid things on Facebook which wouldn't help his cause. I told him to delete certain things and pretty much decide if he wanted to be a professional boxer or not, as there is no point in taking punches to the head of you are not totally committed. It is, after all, rather dangerous.

He had Christmas off to think about things. He has been in and out of the gym *(I understand it to be his old amateur gym, not Nelson's, although I haven't had it confirmed) , and he is seemingly doing a lot better.

I no he still plans on making his debut in February (which is a mile too soon IMO), and he will be back working hard next week Friday.

I am meeting up with him some point in the next few days to see how he is, and I will keep everyone posted.

I understand that the problems he had with his amateur coach were resolved in the last few days, although I could be wrong

I don't want to comment too much- as I like Jamie and I hope he does well but when I read your original article I thought that the situation sounded a little to cliche. Boxing is a tough sport and to be succesful I think you have to be absolutely honest with yourself and those around you. Thats not to say Jamie's not been - just that some of the things he said were slightly premature.

I hope he does well, I hope he learns from every hurdle and failiure and that he works hard to follow his dreams. Thats what lifes about. As a youngster I put myself of a paper pedastal and close decision or not thats why I failed to achieve my goals first time round.

Its took me till 30 to realise that you've simply got to take the rough with the smooth and that you have to put yourself in situations you might not be comfortable with in order to improve. Try sparring 10 rounds with Kenny Anderson- or doing one of Kevin Maree's crazy/ incredible workouts, or doing one of British body building champion Lee Cutlers horrible strength circuits that make you cry. Try boxing for very little money just because you love it. Taking fights at light middle when i'm lighter then I was prizefighter right now. Try going over to Manchester to spar with a giant polish guy who might have been the next Michelzewski/ or the next Dariusz Snarski.....

Its tough and there's a million and one hurdles but persitance is key.... Sorry to go off on one but I hope you get my dirft. My struggle is just normal i'm sure other fighters face far worse when you add in 9-5's, difficult homelifes, lack of money etc etc...

It's a shame, I agree Vano i think you did right telling him what you did and it looks like he should jack it in for a while by looks of recent stuff written. I always say you gonna make it as this sport you gotta be in it 100%. It's far to dangerous to play at it..

You know something mate- thats my goal. I want to win a title and be in great fights- but I want to inspire people to enjoy life and live it to their fullest. If I win a title I can make my story stand out and i'll be honest with you i'm in the perfect place to do it.

I think everyone in life should live for their dreams. It sounds stupid and like Miss America speech but I mean it and I believe it. After Prizefighter I was sat with my mum in the kitchen at their house and she was like 'are you done now? You did really well- you should be proud but thats it- you've got to be realistic'.

I asked her what 'realistic is?' and got a bit annoyed (i love my mum more then anything but she's always been a negaitive person). She said 'well you know?'

And I said 'Thats your reality, not mine'.

And thats the crux of it. We're here once. Just go for it and love every moment- win or lose.

Last little bit of advice for ANYTHING. Think of the last time you performed outstandingly in anything- be at work, on a six a side match- whatever... I gurantee you this- you did it with a smile on your face? I bet i'm right. Even if you were shagging ha ha.....

You don't perform outstanding unless you enjoy what your doing. My last fight was awesome- I watched the DVD the other day- it wasn't totallly perfect but it was miles better then prizefighter and some of the shots I threw and landed and some of my defensive work was beautiful to watch. I'll take some beating I feel. All down to Kev Maree, me and the team that.
