Now, this was a good stoppage. I was concerned that sound officiating might be dying out entirely following Gabriel-Stone.

 

I'm still not sure he had any business being in with a #2 ranked guy, or vying for what is essentially a stepping stone to a world title (equivalent of maybe the Commonwealth title across the lake) - but Roilo Golez certainly did win my begrudging respect tonight! :bbb

So really, Pong vs. Sosa II is what makes most sense for both in 2012...right?

I mean, Edgar is obviously still interested in paying sanctioning fees to Sulaiman rather than going a different route to a big-time championship (Tyson Marquez's WBA, Brian Viloria's WBO although Sosa does hold a win over him, Moruti Mthalane's IBF...)

Obviously none of them is a worthier challenger to Pong than Sosa, who's still operating at a high level (despite the slow start tonight).

 

I'd really rather see Pong fight Igarashi, Fuentes, or Melindo out of that list, just for the fact that he already beat Sosa without controversy.

 

Uncontroversial, but neither was it uncompetitive.

Just a coincidence that two of the guys you'd rather see get the shot are the two highest ranked Pinoys? :yep

 

Yup :yep Actually, I just think that both are riped for a title shot, and Igarashi just beat a very solid fighter in Uicab to grab the mandatory position. To tell you the truth, I figured you were going to ask something like this

I wouldnt mind a Sosa-Viloria rematch. FOTY candidate. Narvaez is probably the toughest and most durable of the bunch.

 

Unification? Yes please! (also good styles match-up).

However, Sosa probably deserves it more by virtue of having kept his high WBC ranking and for holding a win over Viloria.

How about the winner of Sosa vs. Viloria II gets a crack at Pong? :deal Unification either way.
