Yeah I would fancy that match myself but saying that couldn't see it happening for 12-18 months.I dont think McEwan would be on the same level as barker at the moment to make an interesting fight.
Perhaps not, but Darren may've just matched up against Martinez well, with his gameplan. McEwan was really in Andy Lee's arse until the end. I think Barker is a better boxer, yes, and should be favoured, but I think Craig's got actually a very good chance in that one. I agree, too, that it's unlikely to happen soon, if ever. I am anxious to see if Darren can get a title within the next couple years. I like him. Good kid. I think he can do it. Fights like McEwan would be good for him, imo, before he goes back with a top guy, if he's to keep trying. And, hey, maybe Sturm slips a little more, Barker gains a little more experience, that could happen sometime with Barker getting a title.
I had been hoping this would happen for a while. Pity things didn't work out stateside but these things happen. I hope his return to Britain is a success. Craig comes across as one of the most decent fellas in the game. Even though I was cheering for my boy Andy Lee, watching the replays of that fight, I felt really bad for him.
Billy or Peter Harrison. Craig ALWAYS had stamina issues, even in the amateurs, needs a coach who will get him into top condition, then his ability will take care of itself.
McEwan, Macklin, Barker, Murray and others could mix it up nicely. Maybe throw Rhodes in the mix if he is on the way out. Because they've all mixed at a decent level then wins over each other could and should propel them to bigger things.
I hear Martinez's nose thought Darren was something to sneeze at, until he broke the mu****a. Boom. :deal
It will be good to have him on some British shows. He is good to watch, will look forward to seeing him in action.
I think it would make sense for Mcewan finish his contract in America and get as much money as he can and get a couple of wins again . He needs to be more active and maybe fight for a british title of some sort . with regards his trainer he need to sort it out soon as he needs some sort of stability with regards his trainer and stick to the one he chooses as it does no one any good if he keeps changing them . he is a talent that needs to be brought to its full ability .
Funnily enough BB my good man, I was discussing this with my pal earlier, & we came to that conclusion too, Billy or Peter, or even an experienced english coach like Tibbs, as Craig has picked up so much good sparring experience overseas, he just needs some minor tweaks from a solid coach over here to get him back on track. I hate moaning about Gary Young as Its nothing personal & hes Craigs best bud... BUT Facts are facts, & as I sadly predicted, Craig looks like hes went backwards training with his best pal. Craig needs a good trainer, & Gary Young isnt experienced enough for the job. Anyone but Gary Young! Sorry if it wins me no friends saying it, but thats how it is, he needs to ditch his best bud if he wants to realise his potential:deal Cant see it happening though:-(
