jack dempsey because his nutsacks were bigger than Lennox Lewis's When i watch Dempsey smashing the karnt out of Willard it reminds me of what it would be like to fight Dale Dingle Berry in the blistering sunshine! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3BTycNuY44[/ame]
history says dempsey , dont think anyone will be going out of their way to rewatch lewis fights in 90 years time , still watch the [willard , tunney x 2 , firpo and sharkey ] dempsey fights.
the only name in that list noteworthy is tunney,a light heavyweight who he lost to twice. lewis was in plenty of entertaining fights and has plenty of devastating ko's. he went through a stage in his career where he was slightly gun shy which was natural after being caught cold and ko'd vs mccall whilst dominating the fight
I agree that he is overrated but , beneath all the smoke and mirrors, he might be the hardest p4p puncher who's ever laced them up. Combine his raw physical talent and fan friendly style(despite his obvious technical flaws) with his charisma and backstory and you've got a star in any era. Also remember that his 2 most prominent losses came after he had already retired. Any objective evaluation of Dempsey should be based on his performances before '23...in the same way that any assessment of Tyson's greatness should be based on his performances before prison.
on that basis mike tyson should also fayre far better than him also as he was better in just about every aspect if no every aspect of fighting.if tyson would have retired before douglas at what 22/23 he would have retired with everyone thinking he was unbeatable, which no matter what ppl say now they did.he is very very over rated
Jack Dempsey for mine... Take nothing away from Lewis who was a great fighter and without doubt the best boxer Canada has ever produced
Stewie I agree Jack takes this but not by a whole lot I enjoyed watching Lewis as he was big and could punch. The Gym in Canada where he learned to box should be very proud as they did well with him Perhaps if he had stayed there closer to the better fighters in the USA he may have even been better but who is to know now
