I have very little interest in seeing any future cards from what's left of this promotion. It's clear that Zuffa was in the process of cannibalizing the Strikeforce roster and sending it to the UFC before Ken Hershman left Showtime and his replacement decided to exercise the network's option for more MMA programming from Strikeforce. The only reason that the promotion still exists is as a means for Zuffa to block its competition from setting up broadcast deals with Showtime. As it stands now, there are only a handful of high-level fighters (i.e. Melendez, Mousasi, Mo) among a bunch of prospects and no hopers. The only "high-profile" match up on the horizon other the tournament final of the soon to be defunct HW division is Tate vs. Rousey. How the **** do they expect to put on seven more cards this year with the "talent" that's left on their roster? If they're going to continue to run the promotion, they need to send guys like Melendez to the UFC and drop any pretense that Strikeforce is anything other than a UFC farm league. Otherwise, it's going to be a rough year for the Coker and the rest of the Zuffa B-team.
I just want the UFC to completely overtake them at this point. There are a lot of interesting fights in the UFC for the top Strikeforce guys. Who is Rockhold going to defend against? Is he just going to keep fighting Jacare for the rest of his career?
If Kennedy isn't UFC bound then that should be Rockhold's next fight. A rematch with Jacare wouldn't be out of order. If Rockhold beats both of those guys, he should be off to the UFC. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that his next fight will be in the UFC without defending his title again.
I wouldn't expect any crossovers any time soon outside the heavyweight division. They promised Showtime that the current roster will stay as it is. Why King Mo re-signed with Strikeforce.
strikeforcee sucks. no nick diaz, fabricio, bigfoot or overeem anymore ufc just needs to get back paul daley.
what's wrong with UFC holding a farm? It's not so bad if you think of SF is a minor league for fighters to prepare themselves for stiffer competition. It's also a good place for guys like Dan Hardy who isn't at an elite level but can still be fun to watch. If you don't like watching SF fights then simply don't watch. Nobody is wasting your time. Weak cards are better than no card at all if you just so happen to be bored at home on a Saturday night.
