And one unleashed his BBC in a free society. Didn't need to tuck it between his legs and do as he was told.

What has that got to do with a discussion regarding relative boxing skills?

It has nothing to do with the topic at all.Although, for what it's worth,I think Louis' BBC was bigger than Ali's.

Joe louis was great in his day, perhaps any day. However, I would be hardpressed to put him in my top 10 ratings of the best pfp ratings.

My reasons for this are as follows:

    1. His quality of opposition in his prime was pretty weak. Some of his opponents were good but none were what I call really exceptional. His "bum of the month" campaign hurts his pfp standing in my opinion.

    2. He was knocked down too often in his prime by men who were inferior to him. He was also nearly beaten by billy conn who was some 25 pounds lighter than him and would have most likely lost had conn stayed away.

If Louis had the type of competition that was available during the 70's and beaten them then his place on my list would have been higher.

A statement like this proves you are uneducated on Joe Louis (as are 95% of the boxing fans who even think they know things about his career) and that you can't handle a proper debate. Fool...

    ---

I like how no one commented on my earlier list. I guess it's too disproving to the common consensus that no one wants to deal with it? They'd rather say "too weak of opposition," "bum of month club," "not enough contenders," etc. without knowing anything of the further back time as is the norm in an Ali and Louis debate.

    I saw the list.
its true he beat about thirty or more ranked fighters in official fights, knocked most of them out. he has the best championship record of any champion. the longest reign. the most defences. no one can seriously accuse him of ducking any outstanding contender.
at least eight of his victims are already inducted into the international boxing hall of fame (something a lot of people here seem to value highly).
