I never saw Leonard literally travel half the ring to avoid engaging. Leonard would use his feet to control punching range. Khan ran for his life.

Watch the second duran fight and then the Peterson fight to see the difference. Khan tried to avoid any action except at his preferred range. Leonard would use his feet to create his ideal range.

Is that not what Khan was trying to do but isn't good enough to emulate SRL (obviously)

So when Khan attempts to box at his preffered range it is running,

And when SRL boxes at his preffered range it is using his feet to create his ideal range?

    slight contradiction there.

Certainly Khan is trying to create his ideal range like leonard but due to not being on the same stratosphere as SRL, failed, thus gets smothered by Peterson. What do you expect Khan to do, infight with Peterson? Obviously Khan displayed that he cannot fight on the inside, and simply does not have the tools in the box to infight, thus Khan was trying to maintain space to fight, like you said, at his preferred range, and use the skills he does have ie. fighting long and fast.

One thing we're neglecting here though is that Khan actually won the fight on the cards (minus point deductions) using his so called 'running'.

    Moving backwards doesn't =running

:patsch terrible post, minus point deductions wtf are you on, he also would have won had peterson not won a few rounds, what if the ref had not counted the slip as a knockdown, we could go all day like that

look SRL used clever footwork, angles, his high ring IQ and a good varieety of offensive attacks to create distance khan back pedals in straight lines to create space then flurrys whilst waiding in squared up and because peterson was closing him down khan had to back pedal at a high pace hence why he was "running", if you cant see the difference you should really go educate yourself better on the sport
