Now, I'm far from Floyd's biggest fan, but there's no conceivable way this fight takes place. Guerrero has no name, no fanbase, even Mexico doesn't know the f&#k he is, and the guy is a Lightweight! As far as I can see, this rumour seems to be stemming completely from one article on a less than reputable site. This is either just some sensationalism or misdirection on Floyd's part.

Agreed, I think most people know this fight ain't happening but are kicking up a fuss just for the sake of it

The PBF-Guerrero rumor sounds like a trial balloon to me.

Trial balloon = Put the idea out and see how the public reacts to it.

you have to be a Floyd fan to say he's not going to fight Guerrero?

you just see how little about boxing ESB is when people say stuff like that.

Mayweather Vs Cotto on May 5th at the MGM Grand

    Reasons It Happens:

    1. makes sense money-wise
    2. legacy fight
    3. shuts up the ducking accusations
    4. cotto's coming off a great W

floyds at the point of his career where he should only fight his resume, canelo and guerrero dont qualify, floyd did say he wants to put the finishing touches on his legacy

Common technique, in politics and marketing.

Have a "source" float an idea that makes its way out to the public. See how people react to it and then go from there.

Based on the reaction to this concept, if the Guerrero fight is being floated as a trial balloon by Team Floyd, then they'll probably decide to pick someone else.

Makes a lot of sense. I just hope if canelo is next to be tested, the reactions are similar. It's just as shitty a fight.
