How optimistic are we about the future of Kell Brook?

  1. I'd make Brook the favourite against Ortiz.

    The bookies won't, mind.

Think he's decent, but im unsure of his overall world class potential.

Definitely needs to get a couple of decent names on his record first, someone like a Clottey or Margarito would be good.

Fights with Ortiz & Betro would be well worth watching. All 3 dont have the best of defences so would just be a pot-luck in terms of who's gonna get dropped.

Can see him definitely picking up an alphabet at some point, its how long he keeps it for which im unsure of.

Id bet big on Ortiz by stoppage if the odds were even half decent

  4. You'll lose.

Ortiz is absolutely gash. Just stay in there for three or four rounds and he'll collapse mentally.

He did it against Maidana, and against Peterson when he was in next to no danger of losing.... but somehow found a way to only draw.

He went to the well against Berto and squeaked home, and then went into meltdown against Floyd. With all that behind him and a few quid in the bank there has to be a question mark over him from hereon.

Agree with Rhino 100%; Ortiz is so dodgy I'd take a relatively unproven fighter in Brook to beat him.

Its a big risk imo, Brook has shown nothing to suggest he can survive someone like Ortiz for the first few rounds, (which points to how little Brook has done in his career thus far) coupled with that theres a whiff of glass about him, nothing concrete but you just look at him and think hmmmmm

Ortiz-Brook comes down to Special K's chin for me. He sometime looks uncomfortable when he ships a punch and Ortiz can bang a bit. If Kell can take it he widely ud's or late stoppages Ortiz imho

Once upon a time it was Carl Froch that took all the ****.

I dunno about Brook yet, he certainly has a good skillset but like has been mentioned, has defensive flaws which will become more apparent higher up in class he goes.

People have noted that his chin hasn't been tested yet, true but neither has his heart, I want to see how he reacts the first time his opponent shows real grit and resistance.

I think Malignaggi would be a good opponent for him at 140 or 147.
