    Good post :thumbsup

As always, the haters don't let facts get in the way of their opinions, though.

its not even a debate, calzaghe stands head and shoulders the greatest super-middlewight of all time.

james toneys run at super-middlewight is perhaps the worst run of opponents in the history of a champion at any weight, an embarrasment to the sport.

barring a victory over toney, roy jones fought an appalling list of opponents at 168 and although jones was dominant at the weight, there will always be a cloud hung over jones for his proven banned anabolic steroid taking.

eubank and collins both had good runs at the weight, and benn has arguably the greatest victory 168 has seen with his victory over mcclellan but all 3 come up short of calzaghe.

ottke has a great run himself but is tarnished with a couple of robberies and never unifying the division.

ward has made has made a good start to his 168 career but at this stage he is being tagged like ottke as just a home town fighter, with just 2 good wins under his belt, a head-butted win over kessler, and a victory over a very limited fighter in carl froch who had already been outboxed twice by taylor and dirrell.

currently ward has benefitted hugely from the massive exposure 168 has recieved from the super 6 tournament - in many ways this exposure has gone a long way to disguising the fact that the current 168 division is the weakest it has been in its history.

at the present time, ward has done nothing wrong, fanboys claiming a win for ward over bute would put him up there with calzaghe are way off the mark. the time to judge ward will be in 5 years time, a win aginst bute followed by losses to the likes of dirrell and degale etc would completely demolish such claims. lets judge ward's credentials at the end of his reign and not mid-way through.

Jones was prime, Calzaghe ended it though after that brutal fight.

Just to clarify.........you are saying Roy Jones Jr. was in his prime when he fought Calzaghe in 2008?

Yes, as you can see clearly in my post. Not sure why would you ask me this when the post clearly states "Jones was in his prime".

He clearly is the most accomplished of all time for now ..But the his career has suffered from him not fighting the best ! Lets keep it real honest .For all the crap his american counterparts get for resume Joe's resume is by far one of the weakest of any unified champ out side Otteke's !

Why would I ask? Because it is probably one of THE most preoposterous things I have read on this website in the 2+ years I've been here.

I am no expert on Jones, not even a fan of his, but I would suggest, if you have not done so, to look up some of Jones Jr's fights prior to 2008, back into the late 90's, and then watch his fight vs Calzaghe. I defy you to come on here and tell me he was in his prime.

I watched his entire career since I was a child, and I have done the same with Calzaghe. Jones was DEFINITELY in his prime, in fact it was Calzaghe who was past his prime, not Jones. It's easy to look great against non-Calzaghe's mate, that's why you are deluded into thinking he was always some crazy monster KOing people with 4 hooks at one time.

The irony of someone saying I'm deluded for saying Roy Jones was not in his prime in 2008 , is hard to take with a straight face. Especially someone who is also arguing that Calzaghe was not. Seems like you've bought into it all hook , line and sinker mate.

I mean this with sincerity. You have no idea what you are talking about in this matter. Carry on.
