Correct me if I am wrong but the reds were looked upon as the lesser of two evils at the time? I think there was knowledge of the CC early on but I do not think anyone believe the extent of what was happening.
1. Yes. There was no great love for Russia. But this was well before the Red Scare. The fear pf communism was not enough at this point to justify going to war with what was, militarily atleast, the most powerful nation in the world at the time. Remember that the Germans had already established their military superiority before American involvement. The Brits found out the hard way. 2. The Allies knew a little of the concentration camps early. They knew that these "deported" Jews weren't turning up somewhere else. I don't believe they knew wholesale slaughter was being carried out until later when the Luftwaffe ceased to be a force.
getting into israel's existence as a good or bad idea is futile. it's much more complicated than that. secondly, are you muslim? if so, I understand your totally false, borderline mentally ******ed statements toward america. you've disgusted me yes, and the fact that you find that funny in light of the brevity of our debate says much more about you than me. there were american POW's, if you think america didn't enter germany with at least some intention of freeing military prisoners and innocent jews, you're delusional. end of the day, regardless of their intentions, they still did it, and successfully at that. that, you can never deny.:good
and on that note, i'm retiring from this day long debate satisfied, knowing that I brought Facts to the table (and not broad, unfounded statements) debunking the idea that the russians were the cornerstone force that lead to the end of the Nazi regime.
I am only telling you what you are afraid to hear! No country is perfect but only one thinks its **** don't stink. Much of the world outside of the US thinks the Russians played a bigger role than the Americans and American industry was playing all sides. if you say the truth is American bashing I am sorry. I guess you have the mentality; "if you are not with us you are against us."
Nobody is debated that the United States contributed massively to the war. Nobody is arguing that USA involvement helped end the war early. By giving proper historical credit, you don't marginalize your own countries contribution.
Your opinion, and at the end of the day it is all it is, is not only the minority on this board but in the world. As everyone knows history is written by the victors and the US won the cold war . . . but m8te "the truth is out there"! The facts at the end of the day is that it was American industry and finance that help build up the Nazi regime. Hitlers intentions were known well before his actions. The Americans came in at the end of the war The Reds (who were out manned and gunned) wore down the Nazi's on the eastern front. And this gave the US and the Commonwealth the ability to attack on the west. The American contribution to the war in the end was great, so was the Russians, Brits, Canadians, Aussies, etc.
Yup, its been many moons since I thought about WWII. I think m8te's got his panties in a bunch and ran off for the night. :thumbsup
