Here's what a temporary 32,000 seat arena looks like in Vegas.

Did you read the quotes? They've been saying temporary stadium for a while. And it's for boxing, so you don't have to fit a football field in the center. It's just too much of a coincidence that the earliest it can be built is late May.

This is bull****. Why the hell does Arum want it SO close to June 1st? It's so ****ing obvious he is buying himself some time to come up with another bull**** excuse. If there is any delay at all in building the stadium, the fight is off. All Arum has to do is come up with excuses about problems they ran into during construction, say it is going to take a few more days, then say it's not his fault Mayweather can't wait longer. He has been changing his story ever since the Marquez fight.

How the **** are you guys actually backing up Bob ****ing Arum?? Has your obsession with Pacquiao or your hate of Mayweather really blinded you so much that you are willing to take the side of this piece of **** that represents everything that is wrong with boxing today?

    The Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California.
    Capacity: 92,000

Basically a giant bleacher with no restrooms until the last few years. Just lots of porta-potties.

Hours after Floyd Mayweather Jr. urged Manny Pacquiao to "step up punk" and fight him May 5, the Filipino boxing star answered with his own message:

Just wait a few more weeks.

Pacquiao huddled with his promoter Bob Arum on Wednesday in the Philippines and agreed the best course for pursuing a long-awaited fight date against Mayweather is to schedule it for late May, or, ideally, June 9.

Mayweather faces a June 1 date to report for an already delayed 90-day jail term in a domestic violence case, but Arum said he'd be "willing to chip in for lawyers' fees" to get that date moved again so a June 9 bout could occur.

Mayweather is scheduled to fight May 5 in Las Vegas against an as-yet unnamed opponent. "June 9 is perfect," Arum said. "May 5 is out, that's impossible."

The extra time is needed for construction of an arena, said Arum, claiming the fighters could generate an extra $40 million by fighting at a 40,000-plus-seat venue on the Las Vegas Strip rather than holding the bout at the 16,000-seat MGM. "You don't throw $40 million away," Arum said.

Arum said he's skeptical of Mayweather's Tuesday Twitter posts urging Pacquiao to "step up punk." Mayweather tweeted, "Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see." Arum said he has heard Mayweather is negotiating with Robert Guerrero for a May 5 fight.

After giving Pacquiao videos of possible opponents Miguel Cotto and Lamont Peterson, Arum expects Pacquiao to choose among those two, Timothy Bradley or Juan Manuel Marquez as an alternate opponent to Mayweather before the promoter leaves the country this weekend.

What does Arum want from the Mayweather camp?

"I want to hear… that they're willing to move to June 9," Arum said. "Then we can sit down and work out a deal."

They have no margin for error time wise because of the June 1 deadline. Just like when Arum played the 'deadline' game because he had to have a date for Pac. Arum was assuming Floyd would be in jail on May 5 and had moved on so there is NOTHING worked out yet. That quote earlier says as much. Both sides said this fight can't be done by May 5 now. Mayweather can say whatever he wants because he already KNOWS this won't happen in that time frame and is simply trying to score publicity points. It seems to be working for some. Again, Nate Jones is only repeating the obvious and isn't getting involved in the media war. Pac is doing the same saying he can fight but not until later in the month. Now BOTH sides have something to go onto forums with and make asses of themselves defending multi millionaires who don't give one **** about the fans, only the fan's money.

Why say yes to something you don't wanna/won't do?

This **** is sad really, I try to keep neutral with this PacWeather saga but Arum is not being reasonable nor realistic with these new excuses.

This is so ****ing stupid (once again) . . . big stars will pay big money to see this fight at the MGM not at some stupid outdoor temporary stadium that might never get built. To think you could build a structure in less than 6 months (when you think that real negotiation have yet to take place you MIGHT have 4 months) is ******ed! I cannot see HBO signing off on such crazy idea.

The revenue for May 5th would be greater than at the end of the month because it is the biggest day on the boxing calender plus you could sell ring side seats at the MGM for 10s of thousands of dollars.

Arum has said many times in the past that a fight between Pac and Floyd must take place in a Las Vegas casino because the amount of money they can generate from high stakes gamblers would more than compensate for the seat difference between the MGM and Cowboys Stadium. And Cowboys Stadium is a whole lot bigger than a "temporary" 40k arena.

    END of that conversation
