I agree. Those who bring up Sanders/Brewster/Purrity as a reason why Wladimir would get beat are living in the past. The Wladimir of today has to be favored over any other fighter, imo.

Now, that doesn't mean necessarily that he would win...but that he should be favored to do so. Steward has him fighting the perfect fight, and barring a fluke, Wladimir wins.

What kind of delayed-reaction fast-acting poison or fluke medical event could cause that?

 

We are not doctors here. Since Wlad stopped Brewster in the rematch it is of little matter, but it is not normal for Wlador any boxer to just fade like that in an instant. The Brewster loss was a fluke.

 

I think that Haye was poisoned against Carl Thompson, he seemed fine early on but then he faded, which isnt normal.

wlad has access to scientific advantages that ali's era never had. he's far more co-ordinated and quicker than fighters of the same size in the 70s, as well as more powerful than all of them apart from foreman. if you transplanted today's wlad into the 1970s he would probably win all his fights. if he had actually been born in the 1940s, however, he would have been far less successful (that's if he ever became a boxer).

 

"Being a good sport"? Wlad publically tarnished a respectable cutman's name. Joe Souza was one of the best cutmen in the world and hugely respected by the boxing community and yet Wlad disgracefully accused Souza of poisoning him.

That is not being a good sport.

 

I wont obsess about it. If you think Brewster proved anything in his first fight against Wlad it is fine.

On a sidnote: I think Hayes loss against Thompson was a fluke. He dominated until he was met with unexpected resistence, and beeing his only 10th pro fight he went into shellchock and his body stopt doing what he told it to do.

Only a fool would claim Wlad's jab is as fast as Larry's was, but only an imbecile would say Larry's jab had more power than Wlad's. That's just ridiculous. :hi:

Irregular blood sugar levels. Those are well documented immediately following the fight. Wlad also showed no signs of concussion.

How that condition came to be is the part in question. Was it a medical condition or was he poisoned? The large amount of last minute bets on Brewster seem to point to some tampering but there's not enough proof to say..................

 

Wlad's handlers accused him, not Wlad himself. It was based on who had access to the water bottle, etc. the night of the fight.

 

It doesn't really matter now, Brewster just got by a Wladimir who wasnt 100%. The rematch proved Brewster didnt belong in the same ring with Wladimir's sparring partners much less Wlad.

Brewster quit on his stool after just 6 rounds, scared to come out because Steward said Wladimir would KO him in the 7th.....
