http://theflyingkneemma.wordpress.c...rtedly-ceasing-affiliation-with-jacksons-mma/ :happy:happy:happy:happy It is now being reported by several news outlets, that GSP has taken the decision to cease his affiliation with the Greg Jackson camp. Since GSP completes most of his training at Tristar MMA in Montreal, he believed that it was the correct decision to make for his gym. It became clear that people affiliated GSP with Jacksons MMA and not with his head coach Firas Zahabi, who should take 95% of the credit for building and developing GSP. Although this is now the case, the contractual arrangements may see Jackson in St. Pierres next few fights, despite the switch in affiliation. This will only be temporary and soon Jacksons MMA will have to focus on the stars they have instead of GSP. Since GSP could potentially be facing Carlos Condit on his return, this actually solves the probable issue of dividing camps etc between the two athletes. St Pierre is currently recovering from ACL surgery last month and is planning on making a return to the cage late in 2012. May be we'll get to see the old GSP back!
Tell that too Karo, Trigg, Miller, Sherk, Penn and Hughes. Only two of those guys went the distance
GSP always seems to be with Firas but Gregf always got the credit. Don't understood why this wasn't made clear a long time ago.
This is a non-story. As the article mentioned, GSP did most of his work at Tristar. He moves back and forth between Jackson's and plenty of other gyms when he's training outside of Quebec. I think that it's really unfair to blame Jackson for GSP's lack of finishing ability. That particular meme about Jackson's fighters doesn't really hold up to scrutiny. Outside of a handful of guys in or affiliated with the camp like GSP and Guida, there are plenty of fighters on team who aren't afraid to mix it. Jackson is also responsible for grooming Jones, who is one of the best finishers in MMA.
Don't expect much of a change. It's not like Firas isn't also a safety first coach. Kind of off topic, but I take issue with the misconception that Greg Jackson breeds boring fighters. All you have to do is look at his stable of fighters to see that's not at all true.
nick will still win. All this is, is a cheap tactic to buy PPV because you think the old gsp is coming back but that doesnt matter because it will just make my boy nick's job of knocking him out easier.
I meant in response to the original point about St. Pierre only being able to win with blanket tactics.
