Is Manny Pacquiao scared of Floyd Mayweather?

None of those fighters you named are Floyd Mayweather. You don't have to like him, but clearly you must understand what you're up against when fighting Floyd.

Bob Arum and Freddie surely know, leading me to believe Pacquiao does too.

 

I think Pac and Arum aren't afraid of Floyd the fighter(although they know they are up against it.) It's the stuff in the buildup that scares them. Floyd is a notorious trash talker. You think he won't bring Manny's prostitute baby momma on 24-7? That's disastrous for Manny who is viewed as a good guy all around.

 

I'm on record as saying that this fight will happen, and that neither fighter are really ducking. I said this right after the Marquez fiight. Check my post history. And blah blah blah yes, if you're stuck on a date without negotiating, than you are dictating terms. Dictating=not being flexible. But hol' up was this thread about Pac being scared of Floyd or Bob Arum? Or apparently it's about who's ducking who now? Dude, you're like all over the place...relax.

 

I don't know if agree with that. I believe his legacy is firm below 135lbs. Only Sports Writers and Columnist (guys like Skip Bayless, Yahoo sports people like this) thinks that what Pacquiao has done above 135lbs is phenomenal. Boxing journalist and people within the sport see right through the illusion. Here is an example of the different standard of FMJ and Manny Pacquiao. Name 3 fighters you would like to see Mayweather fight at 154lbs 160lbs and 168lbs. I guarantee that you and every other poster would name the TOP LEVEL ELITE FIGHTERS AT THOSE WEIGHT CLASSES. Yet Manny Pacquiao moves up in weight and fights all middle-of the road fighters or has Past their Prime fighters. Has yet to face a Top Level Elite Fighter above 135lbs. The closest he's came is fighting JMM at a WW...do I need to post the video.

And now the most Elite Fighter on the Planet say..."LETS GIVE THE WORLD WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE". And you know what I hear....

Context son. When Pac agreed to fight MAB in his own backyard, he was a nobody who'd been knocked out two times. In that particular circumstance, MAB might as well have been Floyd. He showed no fear then. It's the same running theme when faced with a high-risk proposition. See the pattern? Why would a Floyd fight be any diferent? If you're a risk taker that's part of the risk---losing. And that's what he is, a risk-taker and that's how and why people love him, and that's why there is no chance in hell he is in any way scared of Floyd.

Get some perspective on high-risk:

Sasakul---took fight in Thailand (known hometown robberies) and won by ko
Ledwaba---took fight on 2 weeks notice

Hoya---Took fight despite everyone saying he'd get massacred

MAB/JMM/EM--- within 2 years, nuff said

Campaign at welter--- He's a blown up lightweight, that should tell you something!

He's not scared of getting hurt or anything but he along with Arum and Roach know that Mayweather is far too good for him and the chances of victory are slim.

He has been very consistent of letting his promoter picking up his opponents. He always been passive and just fought the fighters his promoter put in front of him. How did he become a ***** by not changing his style?

 

Of course it's different, it's risk vs reward and as an unknown not earning great money you have to take those type of fights to make a name for yourself, now you're earning huge sums fighting anyone why would you risk all that to fight a guy with an excellent chance of beating you?

Arum knows he's not got much hope against Floyd, so why risk it when he can continue making big money against the likes of Bradley or Peterson?

Bradley is a great example of this, he wouldn't fight Khan but would happily get in with Pacquiao, does this mean he's more afraid of Kham than Manny? Of course not, it means the risk vs reward is more beneficial to a Pacquiao fight.

I'm a Floyd fan and I absolutely do not believe that Pacquiao is scared of Mayweather.

Bob Arum thinks Pac will likely lose against Floyd and doesn't want to suffer the financial fallout of this occurring whilst he's still fighting at the top level.

 

Touche, risk and reward does play a significant factor. But then you shift to this argument of reward. Is Pac really scared of losing when the payoff is 50-60 mil? It doesn't make financial sense to "duck". He's not risking potential income by losing to Floyd anyways. First of all, he's down to his last couple of fights, people will watch him irregardless. Second, people get enamored with Pac moreso because he's exciting; that's his box office appeal. That won't change by losing. And third, I seriously doubt Pac is second-guessing himself against Floyd. It's not in his character as proven by his resume. When you're beating guys 15-20 lbs bigger than you are, you develop that swag. And at this point in his career, he definitely has that swag. In fact it is Floyd who comes off as the insecure one in this scenario. PED accusations, unbacked twitter attacks. etc.

 

Not scared, But his promotion still wants to milk the "P4P" thing at least one more fight.

Im sure if pacquiao was his own boss like floyd is then this fight would of happened a long time ago.

Arum is a desease to boxing, he's killing our sport.
