Like what? I personally don't see who in the boxing world is left for Manny to fight, nor who could bring in anything like the money Floyd would, nor anyone Pacquiao would want to face more, if they had prior negotiations with another fighter surely it would be simple enough to state so?

I also don't think if they were to say ok lets fight, that negotiations could drag out to such an extent as to mean that should they break down, no other fight could be made

& To your edit, if it's a publicity stunt, and another fighter has been picked for Floyd

Then why not say 'ok lets fight on may 5th'

Surely THAT would call his bluff?

Saying 'no we dont want to fight you because the cut hasn't healed', or 'no we dont want to fight you then because it cant be promoted properly' doesn't call his bluff, it just makes them look scared, and realistically leaves Floyd with a booked stadium and noone to fight, so leaves him with only one option

    If he's bluffing, call it

They should do that, but honestly what would it matter ? The date is only 1 of 100 issues to be sorted out, and it's obvious that Floyd and Arum can't do busines with eachtoher.

No it's not being regarded that way at all by the media. The demand for a late May date has been portrayed by the vast majority of people (especially casuals) as a duck, especially given the fact that Arum cannot come up with a single good reason why the fight should be held on that date. No one is regarding it as a call of a bluff; Pacquiao failing to fight Floyd on May 5th will attract an equal or greater amount of ridicule on his side than Floyd will by fighting someone else on that date.

It would matter to the millions of fans

It would matter to themselves if they actually aren't ducking

It matters to the boxing world

The question is why are the 3 of them obviously lying to everyone? Because they think negotiations will fall apart? I doubt that.

Well, they are ducking, so it doesn't matter. To be more accurate Floyd and Arum are ducking eachother. We've seen this time and time again. Floyd and Arum don't want to do business with eachother, it's that simple. They both want all the money and there's too much bull**** to be sorted ut. Floyd can make 30/40 mill fighting another GBP fighter, he doesn't need Pacquiao. Vice versa.

Pac vs JMM just sold 1.41 million PPVs and also broke TV records in Mexico. And that was when many people viewed it as a mismatch. It was a tension filled fight with a controversial ending. Pac vs JMM IV sounds like a pretty damn good fight to me.

for you second post, Arum has no way of knowing for sure it's a bluff. If he calls it he could once again end up in a back and forth negotiation that might not even lead to a fight but just end up costing him money and ****ing up his plans.

    It's not worth it because....

Also Mayweather wants to fight in a venue that was reserved by Golden Boy, not Top Rank. The show would essentially be promoted by TR's top rival. Arum is supposed to deliver the largest fight in history into GBP's hands? Give me a break. It's not realistic.

Look at it from his point of view. It's not about not being confident of winning or losing, it just doesn't make seense. Why would Arum have his prize pupil fight the biggest fight in history in an event that Golden Boy would be promoting? Why would Pacquiao want Top Rank and Golden Boy to be involved in that event? It makes no sense.

I predicted this months ago. Canelo is a big draw and I think is naturally bigger than Mayweather. This is a win-win for Canelo. If Canelo loses and its close, his fan base gets bigger since JMM was ineffective against Mayweather. If he should beat Mayweather (highly unlikely) the world will go ape ****.

I'd rather see this matchup than Pac v Marquez IV. Yeah I know Canelo isn't exactly proven, but how many times do we need to see Marquez lose a close one? The last one wasn't even exciting just controverisal. Let's throw some new faces in the mix.

That's up for debate. The fact is Pacquiao is on record that he wants to fight. That is the central issue. He's saying he's available late May. Whether you'd misconstrue that as a duck is your prerogative. But it would be out there that Pacquiao would've been available to fight if indeed Floyd went ahead and fought a different opponent. The point of contention if that actually played out is that Floyd could've chosen to fight Pac next but elected not to. See how bad that looks?

And Floyd's saying he's available in early May at a venue that's acceptabe to both parties, in a situation where Pacquiao has further given no good reason why he would not be available at such a date. Pacquiao and Top Rank in this scenario could have likewise chosen to fight Floyd, who's indiciated his availability and desire for the fight, next but elected not to, and in doing so cited a plethora of uncredible and incompatible excuses.

The side that looks worse in this scenario is the one that's now sending out a half dozen press releases a day, many of which contradict things said earlier in the week. Trying to retake control of the narrative probably means that narrative isn't casting you in the best light.

So you're saying the excuse isn't the date or purse or cut or anything.. Mayweather/Pac won't happen unless Arum is the only promoter? Which majority of boxing fans feel will never happen?
