It's his workrate and stamina, I think. While other debaters sometimes do the cleaner work, they just cant keep up.

Also good use of angles. :bbb

I never claimed he was ranked #1. I was pointing out that those are annual rankings, and do not give you a full picture. Use em if you like, but they don't look good on Calzaghe.

Come on man. Look at the rankings you cited. Almost none of the guys in the smw division are even American.

My mistake, I was looking at Calzaghe's years. There are some, but those hardly seem slanted towards Americans do they?

yes. after b-hop lost to rjj he was still not the number 1 middleweight in the world. funny that.

i listed no-one. i posted the ring rankings for the years before & after the fight. b-hop was not the number 1 middleweight in either. not even close.

    he wasn't even a champ.

could you perhaps tell me what criteria you were using when you described him as "the number 1 middleweight in the world"? or were you just chatting ****? i think it's the latter.

they correct your ******ed factual errors?

When, the mid 90's? It was tough with RJJ there. Everyone was enamored with him.

DO you think they clearly should have been above those guys? I don't remember any of it.

i believe eubank was the best at 168 at that time. i believe that without question. i also believe that it is easier for a us based fighter to get into the ring rankings than fighters from elsewhere.

just my opinion tho. i don't fault ring for this. they are an american publication primarily catering to american fans. especially at that time; before the internet globalised boxing; the magazine was always going to have an intrinsic bias towards it's domestic market.

They were ranked very high as well though, tbf. I can see your pov though.
And what of Calzaghe's rankings? He was rated pretty high seemingly from when he hit the scene with the Eubank win, no?

    i suppose.

or you could look at how fat former light welterweight vinny paz was ranked higher than incumbent wbc champ robin reid off the back of getting schooled by rjj.

Lol. When did that happen? I can't check now.

Though, remember it is the annual rankings.
