Completely fair and clean hit. He shouldn't have headbutted him anyways (TWICE!), so he deserved a sucker punch. But the round was not over, the time was running. He hugged him, and then let down his guard. Open season, IMO.
Ortiz had already apologized, twice (including a kiss)...this just after he had headbutted Mayweather. Once Cortez brought them together, again, they touched gloves, Mayweather giving a nod. Ortiz then decided a hug would make it all better, this after Cortez had told them to fight on. The only person to blame is Ortiz, he not only caused the halt to the fight, including the subsequent apologies, his naivety also cost him the fight. These boxers go through hell for weeks in training camp, they are basically turned in to fighting machines during this time, eat, drink, sleep boxing. You have never been in that position before, yet you call a professional boxer a coward. If the only thing you have done for months is punch and be punched, when the ref calls time to fight, you FIGHT. Even more so after your opponent has, "Just tried to break your nose". :deal
Maybe if Ortiz didn't insist on touching gloves and hugging so much. Its getting ridiculous you touch gloves at the start of the fight and maybe once after a foul. All this hugging and kissing is dumb and Ortiz paid for it. I hope to see less of this Shane Mosley crap after what happened to Ortiz.
