At the presser with Steve Farhood this week.

Some of the BNP crew on here wont like the first minute of the video. Boxing fans will respect a guys choice and get on with it.

I really like Macklin. He's always talks sense and, while I don't think he'll beat Martinez, I do think he'll make an exciting fight.

Did you see his interview in BN?

 Don't start it before it begins!

I'd love to see Macklin do it to be honest, I don't think he's that far away from Martinez in terms of levels either, I find Maravilla to be a little bit overrated. He's at a pretty big stylistic disadvantage though is Macklin, which is the main problem for him, Martinez lives on the kind of openings Macklin tends to present.

Hopefully Andy Lee gets either Lorenzo or Quillin on the undercard, both of them making a bit of noise about it though I haven't heard much from Lee.

Seen it, but not read it yet. I knew Matt relatively well but his nose looks seriously bust up in the picture they used, never noticed it was THAT bad in real life.

    It does, doesn't it?

It's a really good piece. He talks about why he moves around so much and it's hard to disagree with him. I've never understood the **** he gets on here.

Used to see Matt in Solihull, and remember been shocked at Christmas 07 when I saw him. His nose was practically smeared across his face.

Quality lad though, glad we can rely on you Slap for all things Matthew macklin.

Can't wait for Paddy's day, flying out there for it (Slap, as your the man in the know can you get tiks lol?) Just hope Martinez isn't too sharp for Matt and takes him out in the first. I don't know why, I just have a feeling he's not going to have a problem finding him and the sharpness keeoing putting Macklin on the deck. I'm sure I won't be dissappointed though :bbb

He believed you have to be in charge of your own destiny. Loyalty doesn't pay anything - promoters, trainers, etc forget you when you can't fight anymore. So he moves where it makes the most sense to make money and move forward in his career.

It's a very mercenary attitude, but it's gotten him two shots in a row at a world title. While poor Jamie Moore was getting worn down fight after fight, Macklin - the loser - was building a career.

Yeah, that Macklin interview in BN was class. Made me respect him more - the guys out to do the best he can and that means sometimes having to do things your own way.

Tickets are freely available on the MSG website. Not sure if there will be a Macklin block like there was in Germany because Macklin, I presume, will be effectively the home fighters and all blocks will be Macklin blocks but I can find out if you want.
