Ward vs. Calzaghe would hinge a little on location and a LOT on the personal stylistic preference of each of the three attendant judges. It would be one of those where 45% of ESB scored it one way, 45% the other and 10% a draw.

It sure is possible. But it doesn't detract from the influence The Ring has or the fact that it is a go to source for the industry world wide. And the previous lists, including at smw were littered with non-American fighters.

    What points have I ignored?

Braehmer never accomplished anything at smw, which is an important criteria in your eyes. Brewer was done at that point. So aside from a gaudy win total, what is it that would cause people to stand up and take notice?

As for Dirrell, his talent is evident. His biggest win isn't Oganov it's AA, who up until that point, was still a favorite to win the S6 and considered a force at smw. He isn't even in the top 10 again, but he will be. He is the most physically talented fighter in the division, bar none.

The annual rankings list that everyone is quoting, and I assume you used for Butler when you said he was there.

The point was that the lists weren't exactly partisan to US fighters as the majority of the top 10 was comprised of non-American fighters, and that Veit wasn't discriminated against unfairly.

I didn't say he did more, or less. I suppose at the time the others were up and comers in the eyes of The Ring. Veit, not so much I guess. There's really not much on his resume to designate him as more than just a regional fighter.

It's not a discredit to him. He beat who he beat, and lost to who he lost to. He gets the credit he deserves.

Regardless, I don't understand the point of comparing Veit to the likes of James Butler or Librado Andrade. How is that supposed to significantly improve his standing?

    ....

.....It certainly seems like that is what you are saying.

A still dangerous, favored fighter iirc, coming off his 1st loss, and a controversial one.......

Over an injured guy whose future was uncertain and to whom he had lost in a nailbiter. Is that really such a big deal?

Either way, you are making sound like they knew the course the Super 6 would take dating all the way back to the qualifying rounds. Didn't they have Bute over Ward at one point?

Again, they ruled in favor of Froch, and against him, so what does it really prove?

Hes better than Sven, by a fair margin.

Sven didnt have JCs natural ability for starters, and avoided JC too. And finally Sven lost to people that JC pretty much drew or beat.

I agree with a slight modification. 70% would score it for Calzaghe, 10% percent would score it a draw and the rest 20 percent would go on a rampage screaming about how Ward Did The Cleaner Work for months, just like they did after Calzaghe-Hopkins, Froch-Dirrell and Pacman-Marquez.

Were all 4 of the WBO unification fights in the UK ?

I might be wrong but I think they were

The wbo is known to be passed around in the UK in this manner especially by a certain promotor

this is not a good thing, home town fights is all that it indicates.

this gif gets posted a lot.

are people trying to prove that calzaghe was winging a lot of punches or that b-hop was a cheat who clearly uses his head as a battering ram to set up the one shot he managed to land?

i'm not a stickler for strict officiating but i wish refs would clamp down on that ****. you shouldn't be allowed to headbutt with impunity. clashes of heads happen but that is a rather blatant intentional headbutt.

not crying. i actually like b-hop a lot. just saying.

"Irish" Andre Ward, is by FAR the best SMW ever (or will be shortly), RJJ didn't stay there long enough. Calzaghe has not accomplished anything at SMW. His 22 title defenses don't mean shat, he fought c- fighters, mostly domestic glassed jawed fighters. Most of his stoppages were bogus and home town cooking, he was KD by worthless opponents, and went life and death with fighters who couldnt even carry glass jawed jones spit bucket. RJJ has a better resume at SMW than Calzaghe, that big nose british bottom feeder. Calzaghe's win over a shot Eubanks, who will never be a HoFer rofl, Benn yes... but not Eubanks, when did he ever fight a good/great American opponent and chop him down like Benn did? Benn is the best british boxer, besides lewis since the 80's. It's not difficult to win 22 consecutive times over cops and fireman, no namers with no hope. Pathetic how his fans are, they like to put B-Hop and Jones on blast, when these guys resumes **** all over Calzaghes. Consider this, his victory over Eubanks can be compared to Jones beating a shot mccallum, only difference is McCallum is a real ATG.
