WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38KOs)*advised the Manila Bulletin that he would not fight Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) at any weight above 147-pounds. Pacquiao stopped Cotto in the twelfth round in 2009. That match was fought at a catch-weight of 145-pounds. Pacquiao learned his lesson after taking some punishment to his body in a one-sided win over Antonio Margarito in 2010, which they fought at 150-pounds.

Cotto is one of the four boxers being considered for Pacquiao's next fight, which is tentative for June 9. Since the loss to Pacquiao, Cotto move up to the junior middleweight division and captured the WBA title. Cotto has said in interviews that he can still make 147-pounds easily. In the rematch with Antonio Margarito, Cotto pushed for a catch-weight of 150-pounds, but the two sides settled on 153.

Pacquiao is expected to announce his next opponent by the end of this coming week.

***** as **** it *****, meaningless fight at 147, at least if he moves up to 154 he can say he beat Cotto at his own game and win a pretty legit belt since Cotto is said to be a "new man" since that 145 catchweight fight.

Anyways why would he fight at 154 if its not Martinez, or **** even 150... they are not even considered 147 or nothing.

He's turning into Oscar De La Hoya during the latter part of his career. Like a part-time boxer who has his mind on other things for most of the year. I wonder how much he trains when he's not actually in camp?

I think 147 would be fine for this fight though. Cotto says he can still make it and you can tell he's carrying a bit of fat when he weighs in as a junior middleweight.

Cotto would probably agree to fight at 147 again.

Pac already said that just after the Margarito fight. He will never fight above 147 anymore. All fighters have limits, and Pac is no GOD.

Even the great Martinez doesn't want to fight at SMW and would rather pick guys below his weight.

If you want Pac fight above WW, let him fight at Fightnight, ffs.

Manny is P4P King Mayweather fans. And you all ahve to realize, Manny's body frame is small. Sure he is ripped, but ripped for a natural 135 pounder. Sure he has moved up and won titles, but has won those titles struggling to keep weight on. It's his great skills, technique and conditioning that beat his opponents. Why would he give Cotto or any other guy the advantage of being the naturally bigger guy. Even Manny has a limit as to how long he can fight bigger guys. Same goes for Floyd, he's picking on a much smaller guy. Manny is doing the impossible beating guys that are much bigger. He can set the weight limits on all of these bigger guys. Manny has proven is championship caliber for years.

Shame on Manny for saying something like this:patsch The guy is losing more fans quicker than the speed of light. At least grow some balls and fight at 150 or a young lion like Bradley or even Peterson at 147 if the weight is such a concern against Cotto. I just cant understand why people are so demanding against Cotto when it comes to fight. Antonio cant make weight for Cotto at 150 but he can for Manny. Manny fights Cotto at 145 and now wants a fight at 147 after how long Cotto has been at 154? Cotto should take advantage of being a free agent and be more outspoken and push this fight if its true at 150.
