I already posted a poll about Mitchell vs Fury, and I stated why I think Mitchell will obliterate Fury. Now, I raise the question of Mitchell vs. Adamek. I say Adamek beats Mitchell on points, wide and easy. Based on very careful analysis (slow motion, 1/4 speed viewing of films), I am convinced that Mitchell has extreme difficulty fighting in center ring against an opponent who boxes and plays defense. Seth has excellent hand speed, but in the end, there's still a certain muscle bound quality to his upper-body movement and punch delivery. Unless his opponent is semi-stationary, Mitchell struggles to connect with force, and in fact, struggles to connect at all. Likewise, he seems hittable and easily confused when facing boxers in center ring. Against Ibragimov, Mitchell showed incredible killer instinct and finishing power after he landed his big left hook at 2:00 of round 2. But until then, most of Mitchell's blows -- especially his big punches -- missed Ibragimov by slender margins. This cannot be seen when watching the film at normal speed, but when you slow it down to 1/4 speed, it is easy to see. The slow motion replay also shows that Mitchell landed his decisive left hook at 2:00 only because Ibragimov got sloppy and dropped his right arm while trying to rough up Mitchell in close. This article in "The Guardian" says much the same: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/dec/11/amir-khan-lamont-peterson-live-coverage Adamek will not make the same mistake that Ibragimov did. Adamek will be on his motorbike all night, slipping Mitchell's punches and landing lightning quick, pesky shots in return. I can't picture Mitchell connecting against Tomasz, or even slowing Tomasz down with body shots. I believe that Eddie Chambers will be able to outbox Mitchell much the same as Adamek probably could. In fact, "Fast Eddie" might even KO Mitchell in the later rounds, as Eddie has a quick, zapping right hand (yes, Mitchell gets hit by rights) that is hard to block. No disrespect to Seth Mitchell: he's good. But he needs a stationary target in order to get the job done, it appears.
Adamek by a very easy UD. Way too experienced for Mitchell at this point unless their next fights are either a significant step up for Mitchell or a major step down for Adamek.
There's some truth to what you're saying. But against first rate defensive boxers/jabbers, Mitchell is 1000 times more abysmal. Mark my words.
It's possible that you are correct. If so, that is Seth's only possible chance at winning this bout. Time will show that Mitchell is awesome against stationary targets, but hopeless against top notch mobile boxers.
i remember eddie chambers...he was pretty good...to bad he has disappeared but is always alive on the forums like he is still an active threat to anyone
only problem...this is the heavyweight division and there isnt any first rate defensive boxers/jabbers
If you want to get fussy, then I have to agree with you: Adamek and Fast Eddie are not really 1st rate boxer/jabbers relative to history's best. But they're good enough at that style to expose Mitchell's weaknesses. Every fighter has an Achilles Heel of some sort. I say Mitchell's will be exposed against top tier boxer/mover/jabber types. Reportedly Mitchell showed the same trouble two years ago, against Zack Page, whom he barely beat on points.
