Carruthers could be hit. Bobby Sinn really dragged him into a war from what I've read. Medel will want to walk him onto something though, so I think the man from down under can work well with his jab and left cross and stay out of harms way enough to win a close decision.

Yes I thought he looked big and very strong. I think he might of outworked Medel.

Jimmy was big and strong with solid power, a good one-two and a sound workrate, the latter of which could have caused Medel considerable problems if he was in journeyman mode. That said, Medel handled some very good southpaws in his time - the likes of Pina, Yaoita, Seki amongst others. We know what a fast, two-fisted, vicious and - above all - sneaky puncher he was, and Flea has already rightly said that Carruthers was pretty hittable. He looks to me the type of fighter who could be timed quite often and his rhythm sussed out by someone as cagey as Jose, provided that Medel was prepared to proactively punch in tandem with Carruthers and not let himself be outworked and also - inversely - to not let Carruthers work with the one-two from range at a slower pace if he so chose to.

I'll say that Medel at his very best was good enough to either work a decision with his superior timing and trapsmith ability or even score a KO out of the blue, though it's also fairly plausible that Carruthers could nick the decision on work rate. Good fight.
