This era is not as bad as people think, the pool of talent is deep...only problem is the lack top guys fighting each other.

This era is only 3rd behind the 1970s and 1990s in terms of head to head.

Pound for pound is farcical and laughable to even think about it. Pure myths derive from it.

Rankings fighter 1. 2. 3. is too black and white, we should group fighters especially considering All time greats....too many styles and varieties.

    Group 1- M. Ali, L. Lewis, J. Louis, G. Foreman, M. Tyson, Holmes

Group 2- Holyfield, Bowe, Both Klitshckos, J. Johnson, J. Dempsey, G. Tunney

Group 3- Norton, Ruddock, Tua. J.J. Walcott, F. Patterson, Shavers, Lyle, Witherspoon, Tucker, Morrison, G. Cooney, M. Baer, C. Byrd, J. Young

    Group 4- J. Quarry, M. Dokes, M. Spinks, F. Bruno, McCall, Rahman, E. Charles.

The above is just a rough idea.

Reasonable, I think Byrd is too high though. Dokes was much better IMO.

Agree, best managed fighter that considered a great, held the least respected belt out of the big 4, in the newest hyper-real created division, a no man land for a long time untill the likes Ward, Kessler etc came along.

This is an opinion I disagree with immensely. The amount of licensed boxers there is nowadays compared to in say, the 1930s, shows there is a far shallower talent pool.

Duran-Leonard 1 was a close fight and a draw wouldn't be out of the question. If Leonard had gotten the nod I wouldn't even consider it a robbery.

Yuck! 10-5 Duran all the way, not close, but certainly competitive.

Certainly a worthy inclusion to the thread :deal :good

I think this is subsided with the fact that modern advancements in nutrition and training.

Look at the population of Africa...800 million yet only a handful of top level heavyweights yet with the UK...there are loads...because there is tech and know how.

And those that gas within 12 rounds who fought six months prior against a clubfighter.
