He was just embarrassed by Abraham at MW.

The most surprising thing is that Showtime has rejected this not because the two fights deal, but because they want an American opponent. They want to make Bute big on US market.

Now that you mention that, I do remember only highlights of Bute-Mendy being showed on Showtime. Bute-Magee however, made it.. why wouldn't the Dirrell brothers make it?

Andre Dirrell is IMO still one or two fights away from being comfortable mixing it up with the rest of the top 5 again. He barely got a couple rounds out of Cunningham FFS. Regardless, I think he'd take the fight.

I don't see anybody begging for a second peak at Ward-Bute. If he wins, Ward would be #1 AND undisputed. ... ..anybody? :?

My heart says Ward, my head says Andre Dirrell.

    Mendy wasn't on Showtime.

    I'd love to see Bute-Dirrell, but I don't want to see Bute-Hopkins.

According to Dan Rafael and an article on the Scene, Showtime wants Bute to fight Hopkins, which would be a no-win situation for him and potentially ruin his career. Anybody else from middleweight to light heavyweight would be a better choice.

Why is Showtime insisting on Hopkins? His last fight was the main event of the very lowest-revenue HBO PPV of all time. And what happened in that fight was very disappointing to the fans!

Who knows, maybe they know Hopkins is planning to retire or they want to avoid Hopkins-Dawson 2 at all costs.

I dont know how it could be in your opinion that he's still one or two fights away from being comfortable with facing an elite fighter. honestly the only way you can be thinking that is by basing it on the comebacks of other fighters, because maybe i'm missing something, but andre dirrell looked sublime against cunningham in the short round and some change that he was in the ring.

What if the American fighter doesn't agree to catchweight ? What would Showtime do then ?

two promoters in montreal and not yet financialy secure, facing each other would be a buisniss suicide for one of them. this fight will happen by the end of 2013 or begining of 2014 i believe.
