It's been said that Shavers knocked Ali on his big fat arse during a sparring session and was then told to leave.This wasn't too long before Shavers fight with Quarry.

What can I say about this man that has n't already been said. Muhammad has provided many good memories for myself and many others. And here he is,still defying the odds

It seems that every man and his dog knocked Ali down during sparring ! Earnie may well have been one of the true ones,though. Murderous puncher.

 

Well the thing is despite landing his best, Shavers couldn't do it for real.

Children, old people, gentle ladies, they were all drawn to that magical smile--that glow--no mere professional boxer had any business wearing.

Muhammad Ali was truly a world champion. The throngs of the Muslim world embraced him with pride, for he proudly bore the most common of Muslim names.

To the degree that a far-off stranger can, his words, his exploits, his example have shepherded me along in some of the darkest moments of my life. Ali and I were young during the same time; we dreamed together. As I grew up watching him talk the talk and walk the walk, I believed I could do it too. He cared enough to leave a legacy and I am the better for it.

So, thank you, Muhammad Ali, and a very Happy 70th Birthday and "God bless you" from a friend over the decades and over the miles!
