In case Froch whips Bute, Ward can just claim that he was an overhyped so and so that got whipped by the man he whipped.
exactly showtime want Bute Ward, and Froch could throw a spanner in the works for a US big unification fight if he ends up whipping Bute.
I dont think its that.He just wants to make the big unification fight ASAP.If Bute fights Froch then the Ward fight wont be happening till November.:verysad
you really think froch can beat him? imo hes exactly the type of fight that will make Froch look cumbersome and awkward and i think he actually gets stopped late. Bute has too much variation and uses angles very well for Froch to be able to actually engage him in a fight. Froch should look for people that will want to fight him, so he can use his toughness, stamina and clubbing power. A lot of people are more proven than others, Golovkin and the middleweights for example - doesnt mean he wouldnt KO them
I still agree with Ward tho. Bute needs to prove he is a worthy challanger by fighting a world class opponent. So far, a 39 year old Glen Johnson is the best name on his record. Bute really should be made to fight Froch, Dirrell or Kessler first IMO
Perhaps. But then there's the problem of who does Ward fight? It's easy (and fair) to say that Bute needs to start fighting the over top guys at the weight to earn the fight, but there isn't another stand out challenger. Kessler and Froch have already been convincingly beaten, Dirrell isn't doing much and there's really little else.
He tried to fight Kessler but he chose to fight Stieglitz instead. He now obviously wants to fight Froch yet Showtime dont want it.Its not like hes not trying to get these fights. I dont see why a unification between two undefeated fighters needs one of the guys to prove himself tbh. Rumour is that Wards next fight will be against Dirrells brother, whos he proved himself against?
I don't understand Showtime here. Froch has done very well on Showtime and I can't see where they are coming from rejecting this.
This is, of course, a problem. I wouldnt begrudge Ward an easy-ish fight up next (just to make sure the hand is fully recovered). I want to see the Bute - Ward fight, i really do. But i think Bute needs to prove he is at least on Ward's level. Otherwise it'll be 'ooh Bute was always a bum, he hadnt fought anybody' which will be totally unfair. proves my point even more :yep I'm not saying Bute is at fault for the fights not happening. Perhaps he demanded too much money from Kessler, who thought having the WBO belt would give him greater barganing power. As for Showtime rejecting Froch, it is a disgrace IMO. He is still a top 5 SMW, and would be better than anyone Bute has faced. The only thing they may have a problem with is the two fight series Hearn has propossed. Who else is realistically better with Ward saying he has no intention of fighting Bute yet? Hopkins at Light Heavy? Pascal? I'm not ure these are better fighters. I dont really mind Ward - Andre Dirrell. Dirrell was due for a shot at him anyway before he pulled out with his health problem. He came close to beating Froch, and beat Abraham. I wouldnt mind the fight at all. The other Dirrell is a no-go for me tho
