I meant the double standard. Obviously he had been buying something he shouldn't but what was Zuffa meant to do with information that Carwin had brought stuff long before he was ever employed by them?

We'll clean up the sport, but only after the THIRD time you get CAUGHT...

Not sure if you got the double standard angle from my 1st post fella, the above line was my point. I doubt there's anything more Zuffa can do to be fair. PED's will always be a part of sports from now on, especially combat sports.

But if they truely wanted to make a statement, they would have dropped Sonnen after the most talked about fight of 2010. But I guess the rematch revenue is too tempting to refuse due to morals. I can understand it, but I can see the statement made in the OP for what it is too, a PR move

Good on them. More impressive work from the UFC. People can hate but they continue to set the best standard in ALL of combat, no matter if it is marketing, production, match making or fighter care.

With Leben, Dana argues that he is giving him a time out to sort out his problems which I assume is his addiction to drugs.

Yeah I guess I did. To me it seemed like you were suggesting that they would treat fighters differently depending on their value - the Sonnen vs Marquardt comparison - which to me is incorrect. They have a universal policy that fighters can **** up once, although they only return after 'lengthy suspensions'.

Yeah. The stuff he was taking clears the body ridiculously fast so he must have been taking it right up to fight time. When that happens something has gone seriously wrong.

Correct me if Im wrong, but I was under the impression that the 'lengthy suspension' was really them being refused a licence by the athletic commissions involved.

If it was a commission test they failed then yes. If the failure happened at an event where the UFC acted as the commission ( as in the cases with Leben) then its their own suspension.

Leben has ****ed up but the UFC have never lied about looking after guys who give alot to the company. Leben is the same guy who stepped in against Akiyama late and clearly the UFC appreciate that sort of thing, hence the reason Liddell got given a position in retirement.

Liddell was their flagship fighter. Plus he and Dana are VERY good friends. Stands to reason they'd give him a post after all he done for the brand.

Leben's got that Mike Tyson thing about him. No matter how badly or how many times he ****s up, it's still hard not to like the guy

Hope he can get his problems sorted, especially the drink/drug issues
