You're right, we can agree to disagree.

Still you admitted he's an ATG and obviously there's no higher level than that. But yes, you are right, it would definitely push him up the ATG ranks.

I disagree heavily with Scar at the end of the day BOTH guys really need this fight.

ALOT of people are starting to realise that Manny has been exceptionally well matched in recent years and if you put him in with a slick boxer he will have BIG trouble.

Mayweather has a reputation of ducking some big threats but people can clearly see talent wise he is unmatched its just a question of can this person beat him.

Go to any gym Mayweather is held in the HIGHEST regard every boxer knows he is the real deal its just about public perception for him and whether or not people can look past his persona.

Whoever wins this fight it is going to do wonders for how they are perceived, each other will be the toughest opponent they have faced and the accolades will be huge ESPECIALLY if they have a dominant victory.

I dont like to down play either mens achievements so if they ever do face each other full recognition can be given!

Pacquiao has officially achieved more, far more actually and there's nothing really more he could add unless he decides to fight and beat the middleweight champion. So Pacquiao is pretty much secured and done with. This fight would add up but not to the extent that the majority claim. Just like this fight would be a great win, Pacquiao has a long list of great wins already.

If it's a tough competitive fight, both guys' legacies get a boost no matter the result.

Floyd Mayweather would be his greatest win, the metaphorical cherry on top of the cake. Agree or Disagree?

Even if it isn't a tough competitive fight for the winner it addds a boost regardless. If it's not tough/competitive for one then that means that fighter is just THAT good and should be appreciated for it. This isn't Tyson/Lewis where Tyson was already known to being inactive and beyond shot. Both fighters are in great physical condition.

    :deal

He is still a HOFer, but his status on the ATG lists will by DRASTICALLY altered if he continues to duck this fight. He will literally slip tens of rungs down.

Pacquiao is an all-time great ... his career as a smaller fighter (under 135 lbs) he's was an absolute terror.

He doesn't have a chance against Mayweather though.

At 135 if both met I would say it's 50/50 but still favoring Mayweather.

At 147 I just can't see how Pacquiao would handle Mayweather. I used to believe that Pac would win looking at the Hatton and Cotto fights, but the Marquez fight was a good wake-up call. If Marquez was a tough counter puncher, Floyd would be Pacquiao's nightmare unless Pac pulls off a miracle and overpowers Mayweather somehow.

Well yes "officially" he won a WW belt at 145Lbs for instance, you know REAL fans of the sport will take things like that into consideration.

He has 3 fights with Marquez yet the public are split if he won any of those fights despite getting the decision in two of them.

Manny is secured ofcourse he will go down in history as a great fighter

Is he greater than Floyd at this point? Thats debatable and it depends on who you ask.

I think what you are confusing is his popularity, he is THE most popular and maybe loved fighter that doesnt make him the best or most accomplished.

Floyd will no doubt go down in history too, as one of THE best counter punchers, The best defensive fighters having one of the best records etc etc

If they dont fight each other I think they will be forever linked and when you talk about one you will talk about the other and dependant on what style you like most or what personality you prefer, will result in who you chose

Also remember that Ali wasnt particularly well liked when he was actually fighting (Floyd has mentioned this too) but look at him now.

So nothing is set in stone. The best way to secure either legacy is to fight and get the W.
